Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer)’s relationship grows throughout The Office. Fans who really love them might call them Jam or P.B. & J. Fischer revealed which couple name she likes to use for them and more.

Jim and Pam’s scenes in ‘The Office’ were limited

The main romance in the whole series was between Jim and Pam. But there was actually a rule to how many scenes they got together in each episode made by show creator, Greg Daniels.

“Early on, Greg had a rule that we would only go to the Jim and Pam relationship maybe once an episode, that it would be rare that we’d spend a whole episode on their love story. And it just became very important that we really nailed those moments,” Fischer said.

Daniels said fans definitely wanted more after the first season. “As the show got more successful over season 2, you could feel the ‘shippers,’ people who really got into that relationship, and they were online a lot talking about every little detail. You could feel how important it was to so many people,” he said.

Jenna Fischer said she was proud of their relationship

Fischer and Krasinski  reflected on their character’s relationship for the show’s 10-year anniversary with Entertainment Weekly. She explained why she is proud of their relationship.

“I’m really proud that we created this healthy version of a relationship and didn’t wait until the last episode to see them get together,” Fischer said. “There’s no cheating, there’s no crazy weird breakups and makeups. They just gently weather the storm.”

She shared her theory why so many people were drawn to it despite the lack of drama. “I feel like everyone in their love story journey has had a moment of unrequited love or yearning for a person, so I think that kind of hooked people early on,” she said. “But I really have to give credit to John Krasinski’s performance.”

Fischer continued, “In our second episode, Jim goes after a big sale and Dwight ends up stealing it from him. But in his final talking head, Jim says it was a pretty good day, and he’s saying that because Pam fell asleep on his shoulder. That look on Jim’s face, every woman out there wanted a man to look like that when they talked about her.”

Fischer is Team Jam

The Office Ladies co-hosts talked about the episode “Boys and Girls.” Michael Scott (Steve Carell) refers to Roy (David Denman) and Pam as the “Brangelina” of the office in a scene. “David Denman looks legitimately confused,” Angela Kinsey pointed out. “Roy in this moment doesn’t look like he’s sharpest tool in the shed.” Michael then gives them the couple name, “Ram.”

“Now here’s a question, I’ve seen debate online. Some people refer to Jim and Pam as Jam, and some of them refer to them as P.B. & J, Pam Beasley and Jim. What do you think is right because I’m a Jam person?” Fischer asked Kinsey.

“I like Jam because it’s just easier to say,” answered Kinsey. “I like Jam. I like DwAngela. I guess Ram, or they could have been Poy.” Fischer pointed out that Roy’s last name is Anderson so if they did get married Pam would become Pamela Anderson. That’s probably another reason it’s a good thing they didn’t get married.
