Krasinski and Wilson discussed ‘Some Good News’

Krasinski has been busy during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic with his Some Good News YouTube series, which has provided some happiness during uncertain times. People have loved Krasinski’s “news” program that he pulled together in his home office with stories and video clips about some of the more positive things going on in the world.

During Wilson’s Hey There, Human on May 26, the former co-stars discussed how Krasinski came to do Some Good News. “I’ve received the most amazingly kind notes about how much that show meant to everyone, but the truth is, it meant no more to anyone than me,” Krasinski shared. “That’s probably the most emotionally fulfilled I’ve ever felt in my entire life.”

He continued, “I thought to do it because I was sitting around and I was starting to get bummed out and sort of trying to figure out how I was gonna wade through this weird, uncertain time.”

It was an idea that he had years ago to do a good news network, but Krasinski’s wife Emily Blunt encouraged him to make it happen. “She said you should do it right now and so I went in my office and did it right there.”

Krasinski continued, “I felt like I was part of a really special community of people who not only brought all the good news but all this interaction and we had the most fantastic community of people like you and SoulPancake — that’s how we feel about the Some Good News community… It was so much fun to celebrate good things during this really weird time.”

Why Krasinski ended the show and sold it to CBS

All things must come to an end, but fans of Krasinski’s Some Good News weren’t ready for it to end just yet. The actor wrapped things up after the eighth episode, but the show will live on since he sold the series to CBS.

People were a bit devastated to hear that Krasinski sold the series and worried he would no longer be involved but he assured everyone that he will still be part of it.

He also shared the reason why he couldn’t continue doing it — he has other professional projects in the works and he just doesn’t have the time to devote to it, unfortunately.

“Well it’s funny, it was one of those things where I was only planning on doing eight of them during quarantine because I have these other things that I’m going to be having to do very soon, like Jack Ryan and all this other stuff,” Krasinski explained. “More than that… writing, directing, and producing — all those things — with a couple of my friends was so much.”

The show is in good hands

“I knew it wouldn’t be sustainable with my prior commitments,” he added, noting that he would have had to end it or find someone else who could take over. “I would love to keep doing the show from my office forever. It just wasn’t sustainable.”

“In eight weeks [Some Good News] went from not existing to now being on one of these huge news networks,” Krasinski marveled about CBS’ involvement. “We have a lot of really fun stuff planned, and I can’t wait to dig in. I’m going to be a part of it whenever I can, and I’m going to host a couple [episodes] and bring on a different community of people… But we’re really, really excited about it.”
