Ree Drummond went to New York to promote her new cookbook

On Oct. 17, Drummond took to Instagram to share that she was on a plane heading to New York City to promote her newest cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Super Easy. She didn’t post a selfie, but rather a photo that showed Jane Goodall gracing the cover of Time magazine. Fans also got a peek at the ripped jeans and brown boots she wore on the flight.

“Do you have a flying ritual that calms your nerves, makes you feel better about leaving home for a few days, and keeps your mind (and central nervous system) in check?” she captioned the post. “Mine is buying a copy of Time magazine. Well, and string cheese and gum, too.”

The Pioneer Woman also posted more about her travels on her Instagram story and revealed that she was wearing her husband Ladd’s socks. And, for anyone wondering, Drummond said she “actually paid money” for the hole in her jeans.

Drummond shared that she was heading to “New York for my cookbook launch!” explaining, “I have a signing and will be on some morning shows/talk shows! Haven’t been to NY in two years.”

Some of Drummond’s fans weren’t happy with her reading material

A lot of Drummond’s fans commented on the post with their own travel rituals, with many agreeing that getting a book or magazine for a flight is their go-to move as well.

Not everyone was happy, however. A small number of her followers chimed in with their disappointment about Drummond’s choice of reading Time magazine. Comments included, “Ha, Time?!?! A liberal hack magazine” and “Time is a liberal biased magazine. Wouldn’t waste my money on it! But have a nice flight!”

Another fan shared their thoughts on Drummond’s in-flight reading. “I get a little disappointed when I see someone I like fall for that crap,” they wrote. “But when you’re on the inside looking out, you don’t know any different. You just do what you gotta do to stay relevant $$$$$.”

One person called it “so sad,” writing, “Agreed. I feel the same way. So sad the celebrities/people/actors that I once loved … I just keep moving on.”

Some other fans chimed in with their opinions, including, “A lot of liberal nonsense in it if you can overlook the majority of the magazine” and “I’d never read that liberal rag is first thing, second I’d drive.”

One fan said they like to read The Pioneer Woman magazine on a flight to “relax and find inspiration,” but gave Time a thumbs down emoji, adding that the magazine “has grown so politically biased I had to cancel my subscription.”
