‘The Pioneer Woman’ Cinnamon-Baked French Toast comes together in a flash

The Pioneer Woman star gathers all the ingredients for this delicious breakfast or brunch dish from her refrigerator and freezer.

This breakfast is the ultimate in family-friendly recipes because it utilizes items you may already have on hand, including frozen bread and fruit. But, make sure to defrost those items ahead of preparing the casserole.

Firstly, assemble the bread casserole the evening before so the bread can absorb the creamy custard poured atop it.

Secondly, top the dish with a cinnamon-brown sugar topping and bake the next day.

How to make this tasty and sweet Drummond family breakfast favorite

Just seven ingredients are needed from start to finish to make the base for this breakfast favorite.

These include butter, one loaf of sourdough or French bread, eggs, whole milk, whipping cream, white and brown sugar, and vanilla extract.

For the topping, you will need flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and butter.

To make the French Toast, grease a large baking pan with butter.

Tear bread into chunks and lay in the bottom of the pan.

Then mix eggs, milk cream, the two sugars, and vanilla. Pour over the bread and store overnight in the refrigerator.

When ready to bake, make the topping.

Mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg and cut in butter with a fork until the mixture looks like crumbs.

Sprinkle over the top and bake until the texture you desire. One can eat this French Toast more on the crispy side or like a bread pudding.

Top with syrup and fruit.
