Many people are big fans of The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond and look forward to her show each week. However, some viewers aren’t as eager to watch the Food Network star whip up her latest recipe. There are a few issues some former fans have with Drummond, and they’ve chosen to skip the show. Here’s why some Food Network fans stopped watching The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond.

Some Food Network fans say Ree Drummond’s recipes don’t have the same quality as her earlier recipes. These fans feel her cooking style has become “lazy.” Others have accused her of copying recipes and saying they are her own creation.

Although some viewers have complaints, Drummond told USA Today she never claimed to be a professional chef. She told the news outlet she is a home cook and she gears her recipes toward those who don’t have professional cooking experience. She also said her goal is to help cooks feel relaxed in the kitchen. “You don’t have to have culinary school to be a good cook,” she told USA Today. “Some people come just for the recipes, and others come because they like the ranch, but I think probably overall I’m not and I’ve never presented myself as an expert. “I’m just a home cook, and that probably makes it a level of accessible to a lot of people,” she added.

Some fans stopped watching after an episode aired that they thought was “anti Asian”

Thick Dumpling Skin, a podcast and blog managed by Asian Americans, posted a video that suggested Drummond was being subtly racist toward Asians. Underneath a Twitter post with the video in question, they included the caption, “Hey @FoodNetwork–this anti-Asian sentiment being promoted on @thepioneerwoman’s show really isn’t cool.” Some fans even asked Food Network to remove the show from their rotation. Viewers were offended that one of the men said he “didn’t trust” the Asian chicken wings. Others were offended when someone else during the episode asked, “Where are the real wings?”

Other viewers feel Ree Drummond isn’t relatable

Fans also take issue with Drummond because they feel she is too wealthy to be relatable. Although she describes herself as an “accidental country girl,” who focuses on cooking for her family and watching over the home, fans feel she is simply another network celebrity who is only concerned about building a growing empire. Some have also said she seems to be more interested in making money than helping her viewers make meals for their family, and that she seems “fake,” on her show.
