The Pioneer Woman star Ree Drummond’s eldest daughter, Alex, will be getting married soon. The Food Network cook recently went wedding dress shopping with her daughter, and she allowed her fans to get a peek at their shopping trip.

Drummond announced her daughter’s engagement back in August. Alex met her husband-to-be, Mauricio Scott, while they were both students at Texas A&M University. Scott is often seen in Drummond’s Food Network episodes. During her “at home” series, it’s not unusual to see Scott taste-testing the latest dish or joining in on the family fun and participating in a snake prank.

Ree Drummond had fun spending time with her future son-in-law’s mother

Drummond documented the wedding dress hunt on The Pioneer Woman blog. She says one fun part of the shopping trip was spending time with Scott’s mother, Martha. Alex invited her along because Martha has two sons and likely wouldn’t have the opportunity to shop for wedding dresses since she doesn’t have daughters.

“What made the shopping experience extra special is that Maurico’s mom Martha came along and joined us on the shopping trip,” wrote Drummond. “She just has her two boys, so Alex knew she would enjoy the wedding dress process. Martha is a gorgeous, kind person, and it’s been so wonderful getting to know her. We have fun together!”

Alex found the perfect dress for her wedding, according to Drummond. If you want to see the dress, you’re out of luck, the Accidental Country Girl doesn’t want to ruin the surprise for Scott, so she decided not to post any photos before the wedding.

I can’t show you any more photos right now, but I can tell you that Alex found the perfect wedding dress, and we all loved it unanimously. It was (I believe) the fourth dress she tried on, and we knew almost instantly that it was the one.

In fact, as soon as she “said yes to the dress,” Alex immediately called the other two stores where we had appointments and respectfully canceled, explaining that she’d found the dress and didn’t want to take up their appointment times. (They were understanding and said it happens regularly in both directions!)

Paige Drummond will be Alex’s maid of honor

Drummond revealed her daughter Paige will be Alex’s maid of honor. She says they also spent time shopping for Paige’s dress. One month after her engagement, Alex asked Paige to be her maid of honor by sending a bottle of champagne along with a note that said, “Will you be my maid of honor?” The bottle had a custom label on it with the words “maid of honor” on the front.

The Pioneer Woman is over the moon about Alex’s upcoming nuptials. She ended her blog post with a note of thanks to her fans. “Thank you for letting me share the adventures with you!” wrote Drummond. “The wedding dress is beautiful, it’s perfect for Alex, and I can’t wait to show it to you. (Patience will be tough over the next few months!) It was nice to have a happy Saturday and look forward to the future!”
