Fans of “The Pioneer Woman” star Ree Drummond love her show because she’s a great resource for recipes. Storage and organization are important when it comes to recipes. You don’t want to spend precious minutes searching for your favorite recipe when all you want to do is start preparing your meal. How does the Food Network star keep track of all her recipes? In the holiday 2018 issue of “The Pioneer Woman” magazine, one reader asked how Drummond remembers all her recipes. She has a lot of meals and desserts to remember, so it wouldn’t be surprising if she forgot some of the instructions and ingredients from time to time.

Drummond shared her method for staying organized. Surprisingly, she revealed she doesn’t have a set method. “There’s no organization whatsoever! I have some recipes in my head, like chocolate sheet cake and cinnamon rolls, but I actually have to go back to my cookbooks to find things sometimes. I always laugh when I do that.”

Drummond seems to be an endless source of recipes. How does she continue to amaze her fans with brand-new recipes each week? What’s her secret? In the Spring 2018 issue of “The Pioneer Woman” magazine, a reader asked Drummond how she’s able to whip up ideas for new meals. Here’s what Drummond shared:

Sometimes I just build on core recipes I already use. For instance, I have a chicken tortilla soup and an Italian meatball soup, so I came up with a slow-cooker Mexican meatball soup in my new book, “Come and Get It!” For home cooks, I think it’s less about culinary brilliance and more about putting little spins on recipes you already know and love.

How Ree Drummond comes up with recipes for her cookbooks

Drummond cooks a lot and appears on her weekly Food Network show, but that doesn’t mean gathering recipes for a new cookbook comes easily. She puts a lot of thought into each cookbook she produces. Drummond told “Tulsa World” it often takes her a few months just to make a list of the recipes she wants to share in her cookbook. “Usually a new cookbook starts with me making a list of recipes I’m passionate about sharing. And that usually takes a couple of months, because things need to evolve before I come up with a more or less complete list. Then I see if there’s some sort of theme I can use to try and connect everything together.”
