It must be so amazing to have The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond for a mom. Not only does Drummond seem like a doting, devoted mother, but she’s also an amazing cook who is constantly trying out new recipes on an eager audience of family members. There’s no chance of her husband Ladd Drummond or their four children, Alex, Paige, Bryce, and Todd being served bland chicken for dinner.
With so many options to consider, it’s probably hard for Drummond’s family to choose a favorite recipe. But during one interview, The Pioneer Woman host did narrow down her family’s most requested meals to a few clear winners.
The Drummonds have a rotating list of favorites
During the interview, The Pioneer Woman admitted that each member of her family has different tastes and enjoys eating unique recipes. Plus, those most requested hits are changing all the time.
When asked by Design & Living about her family’s favorite meal, Drummond said, “That changes a lot. It’s probably five favorite things. One of them is chicken parmesan, of all things, and it’s not the best, authentic Italian version. It’s very Americanized.”
Her website includes a recipe for the classic dish, which she describes as, “rich, flavorful, and totally satisfying.” The key to making her version work is adding red wine to the sautéed onions to really bring out the flavors. And she recommends sprinkling plenty of freshly grated parmesan on top as well. Obviously.
Another family favorite is a Southern classic
One thing that all the Drummond family favorites have in common is they’re all traditional classics. Another top request The Pioneer Woman named during the interview was Chicken Fried Steak.
“We don’t eat it very often, but when we do they’re like putty in my hands,” Drummond said. On her website, she recommends serving the steak alongside a big pile of mashed potatoes with everything coated in thick gravy.
“It’s one of life’s real pleasures,” she said on the post.
Other meals the Drummond family loves
Besides chicken parm and steak, the Drummond family likes putting a twist on their evening meals. “We like to do breakfast for dinner a lot with biscuits and gravy or things like that,” Drummond told Design & Living. “They love Tex-Mex quesadillas. It’d be hard for them to unite into one favorite meal. Every kid has their own favorite.”
One thing that might surprise you about The Pioneer Woman’s Biscuits and Gravy recipe? She uses canned biscuits instead of homemade because her husband Ladd prefers them. Plus, she claims the taste is all about the gravy anyway.
‘The Pioneer Woman’ said her cinnamon rolls are second to none
The Pioneer Woman has so many amazing recipes that fans love to make. But the one she’s most proud of is her popular cinnamon rolls, which she boldly claims are the “best in the world.”
The frosting on The Pioneer Woman’s cinnamon roll recipe includes maple flavoring and a generous dose of brewed coffee. If that’s not the best way to start a morning, then we don’t know what is.
Plus, she claims they’re calorie-free. Amazing, right?
