‘The Pioneer Woman’: Ree Drummond Shares the Guilty Pleasure Food She ‘Can’t be Trusted With’
Ree Drummond loves coffee so her guilty pleasure food makes total sense
During a December 2021 interview with Mashed, Drummond was asked a few rapid-fire questions.
In addition to answering “cheese … of every kind” when asked, “What is one ingredient you can’t live without?,” she also shared her guilty pleasure food picks.
“I think any form of coffee-flavored ice cream or gelato,” she said. “I cannot be trusted with it.”
In a 2015 blog post on The Pioneer Woman website titled “Coffee Is My Life,” Drummond declared her love for the caffeinated beverage. “Good or bad, right or wrong, I wouldn’t want to live in a world without coffee,” she wrote. “I start each morning with iced coffee, and it’s the best way to start the day.”
Drummond shared her recipe for “perfect iced coffee,” as well as dulce de leche coffee, mocha silk pie, and chocolate chunk cookies.
She also has a recipe for coffee dulce de leche ice cream. “The only thing better than ice cream is ice cream with coffee in it!” she wrote on The Pioneer Woman website.
Drummond tackled an internet coffee trend
In 2021, Drummond demonstrated how to make the internet’s famous iced coffee, called dalgona coffee.
She shared in an Instagram post at the time: “I try whipped/dalgona coffee for the first time on my show this Saturday, and Paige is along for the ride! Let’s just say I’m a believer. WOW.”
Drummond shared the steps for making it during an episode of The Pioneer Woman. “I’m making a kind of coffee drink that’s called dalgona coffee, but it is amazing,” Drummond explained. “It’s basically a whipped coffee served on top of milk.”
It’s easy enough to make. She placed hot water in a bowl and added instant coffee, sugar, and vanilla. Drummond whipped the mixture “for at least 3 minutes,” noting that it’s a good idea to start at low speed to reduce splattering. She increased the speed after the mixture thickened.
To assemble the coffee drink, Drummond put ice in a glass and poured milk over it. Then she put the whipped coffee on top and stirred it to incorporate the coffee topping into the milk.
“I actually really love it,” Drummond said after she took a sip. “It’s honestly everything I thought it would be — it is so good!”
The full recipe is available on the Food Network website.
Fans loved the sweet coffee drink
Drummond’s fans loved the sweet coffee drink, with many leaving comments on the recipe. “I couldn’t have imagined these ingredients whipping up into a creamy mixture, but they did and it was magical!” one person noted. “I just added a splash of vanilla; a whole tablespoon seemed like a lot for one drink. It was perfection!”
Another fan shared, “This did not disappoint! I substituted Splenda for sugar but other than that, I followed the recipe. I think almond milk or skim milk would work fine too. I’ll definitely make this treat during the summer; maybe sprinkle pumpkin spice for the fall.”
