The Law & Order universe is growing with an all-new series with Christopher Meloni at the helm. He plays Elliot Stabler, a troubled, yet passionate detective that worked the Special Victims Unit for over a decade on Law & Order: SVU. His abrupt exit was more than sad for fans, who had a hard time filling the void with his absence. Stabler didn’t even say goodbye to his longtime partner, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) when he didn’t return for season 13 of SVU.

However, things are looking up because Stabler is coming back for Law & Order: Organized Crime. The series will include 13 episodes for fans’ viewing enjoyment, and offer another glimpse into Stabler’s life.

What will ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ be about?

Meloni will be back as Stabler working in New York’s Organized Crime unit when he returns from being away for a decade after facing a very personal loss.

Here’s NBC’s description of the series: “Christopher Meloni, reprising his role as Elliot Stabler, returns to the NYPD to battle organized crime after a devastating personal loss. However, the city and police department have changed dramatically in the decade he’s been away, and he must adapt to a criminal justice system in the midst of its own moment of reckoning. Stabler will aim to find absolution and rebuild his life while leading an elite new task force that is taking apart the city’s most powerful crime syndicates one by one.”

When can fans expect to see the new series make its debut?

Although the series was originally supposed to be released in October, it will now make its debut in 2021, according to a Wolf Entertainment press release. The news is a devastating blow to fans who assumed Organized Crime would be arriving this year, but unfortunately, it won’t be.

The news came along with a date for the season 22 premiere of Law & Order: SVU, which will premiere November 12, at 9 p.m. E.S.T.

There isn’t an actual set date for Organized Crime, but we’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully, it will premiere sooner rather than later.

Why Fans Are Going Crazy for Christopher Meloni in a Kilt

On a recent episode of The Talk, Meloni was asked if Hargitay could make an appearance on the show, and he made so many fans’ dreams come true with his response. Hargitay will be on the new series, which is music to the ears of viewers.

“Oh yeah,” Meloni responded. “How much? I don’t know, because I hear she has her own day job. I think whatever we can slice away, whatever the writers come up with. I think we will both be looking forward to playing with each other in each other’s sandbox.”

Although fans have to wait until next year for the new series to arrive, it sounds like it’s going to be worth the wait. Fans will finally get to see more of Stabler and Benson together again, and it’s all we’ve ever really wanted.
