Moving on from ‘The Real’

Now that Mowry-Housley doesn’t have the Monday through Friday daytime talk show schedule of The Real to work around, the married mom of two has more than her share of new projects. In addition to partnering with General Mills’ Lucky Charms on their new packaging initiative, and her YouTube series The Housley Life with husband Adam, the social media maven also has a Hallmark movie lined up just in time for Christmas.

“It’s going to be a little magical in and of itself,” Mowry-Housley told Showbiz Cheat Sheet of her upcoming TV film, Christmas Carnival. “I go back in time. There’s going to be lots of Christmas and romance and some lessons learned there. I’m excited.”

Serving as producer and star of Carnival Christmas, Mowry-Housley jumped at the opportunity to return to acting.

“It literally felt like riding a bike,” she said. “I was a talk show host for seven years. And acting, it was just calling me back. So when I got the opportunity, I was like, I’ve got I’ve got to do it. I just had an amazing experience and I felt so honored. … So I’m going to do it again. It’ll be out this Christmas.”

She is still in awe of her amount of followers.

Placing a priority on being real, Mowry-Housley emphasizes that her followers are 100% organic and shuts down the practice of padding numbers through paid programs.

“I would like to put out there, there are people, I found out, that buy followers that use this crazy program,” Mowry-Housley said, reiterating, “I would never do that. I want the people following me to be authentic.”
