The Real has lost another co-host.
Tamera Mowry-Housley has announced her exit after six seasons appearing on the panel. The move makes her the second co-host to announce their departure in just over a month after Amanda Seales revealed in June that she’d opted not to renew her contract. Given the close timeline, fans are wondering if something serious is happening behind the scenes.
Tamera Mowry-Housley’s announcement about leaving ‘The Real’
The Sister, Sister alum announced her departure in a statement shared to Instagram on the evening of July 13.
“For seven years, my home and heart has been at The Real. The friendships that I’ve made there will last a lifetime, and the people that I’ve had the blessing to interview have changed my life for the better,” she wrote.
“I’m so proud of what all the ladies and I have accomplished there, including two well-deserved NAACP Image Awards and a Daytime Emmy. However, all good things must come to an end, and it’s with a bittersweet smile that I announced that I am moving on from The Real,” Mowry-Housley continued.
She concluded: “To my fellow hosts, I love you, I will miss you, and I will always be there for you. Thank you for teaching me, supporting me, and loving all of me. Sisters forever. I’ll be rooting for you, as I look forward to spending more time with my family, pursuing amazing new opportunities, and embarking on the next chapter of my life.”
Mowry-Housley has served on the panel since its 2013 debut, hosting alongside Adrienne Bailon, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai, and Tamar Braxton. Braxton was fired in 2016 and eventually replaced by Amanda Seales. But after just six months, Seales chose to leave due to alleged censorship issues.
Fans react to Tamera Mowry-Housley leaving ‘The Real’
Many social media users seemed happy for Mowry-Housley as she embarks on her new journey. However, others were more skeptical about the circumstances behind her exit.
“Tamera quitting The Real right after Amanda Seales? Something is up!” read one tweet.
“First Tamar, then Amanda and now Tamera. what’s going on at The Real?” another wondered.
As rumors started swirling, a representative for Telepictures — the production company behind The Real — told People that the network still had a good relationship with Mowry-Housley and that it would be open to working with her in other capacities. So maybe there’s not any drama going on after all.
The fate of ‘The Real’ now that Tamera Mowry-Housley and Amanda Seales are gone
Many social media users also wondered about the future of the show and if it could sustain its momentum now that it’s lost two of its five co-hosts.
“So Amanda and tamera both left the real which leaves loni jeani and Adrienne what the hell they about to do now,” one fan questioned.
“Tamar, Tamera, and Amanda left The Real. Might as cancel the show,” read another tweet.
But as noted by The Hollywood Reporter, The Real has been renewed through 2022 so it might be safe until then. Stay tuned to Showbiz Cheat Sheet for updates as they become available.
