Czuchry didn’t always plan to be an actor

Born on May 20, 1977, in New Hampshire, Czuchry initially studied history and political science at the College of Charleston in South Carolina, with the intention of becoming a lawyer. However, according to IMDb, his LSAT results were “embarrassingly awful” which led him to reevaluate his path. He turned to his passion for film and television and decided to embark on an acting career after his college graduation.

Czuchry’s rise to network television fame

Czuchry’s big break came when he joined Gilmore Girls as Logan Huntzberger during season 5 in 2004. Although he started in a recurring role, the actor was cast as a series regular by season 6. Logan a rich, party-loving college kid turned serious businessman remained main character Rory’s girlfriend until the series’ end in 2007. Though the two broke up, he and Rory reunited as lovers in the 2016 four-part revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.

Two years after the original Gilmore Girls ended, Czuchry put his law studies to use and picked up a series regular role as lawyer Cary Agos on CBS’ The Good Wife. He quickly became a favorite character for many fans, who witnessed Cary go from main character Alicia Florrick’s nemesis at a competing law firm to her friend. Czuchry kept up his role in the drama until 2016.

Czuchry was cast in the starring role of Conrad Hawkins, the titular resident at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital, on Fox’s medical drama The Resident in 2018. As a senior resident and one of the hospital’s best doctors, Conrad supervises a first-year resident, Dr. Devon Pravesh, at the start of the series. Although Conrad does come across as arrogant at times, it’s clear that he cares deeply for his patients which is why he is a fan-favorite character.

Czuchry still stars in The Resident today. The series finished its fourth season in May 2021. The Resident was also renewed for a fifth season shortly before season 4’s end. Fans expect Czuchry to return in the new season alongside co-stars Emily VanCamp, Manish Dayal, Morris Chesnut, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Bruce Greenwood, and Jane Leeves.
