When Does the ‘Sex and the City’ Revival Come Out? Show Reportedly Given 2021 Release Date at HBO Max

'And Just Like That...' HBO Max made a 'Sex and the City' revival happen. Centering Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York, the series will focus on the three friends as they navigate the next stage of their lives in NYC. But when does it air? Find out.

Sex and the City remains popular with audiences even decades after its 1998 premiere. Based on a same-name novel by Candace Bushnell, the show revolved around a group of women living their best lives in New York City. The HBO series was adored for its friendships, relationships, and of course, its wonderful wardrobe.

But it’s been a few years since we’ve seen the gal pals. Thankfully, there’s a revival series in the works — but when does And Just Like That… come out? Find out.

‘Sex and the City’ stars Cynthia Nixon, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis are seen on the set of "And Just Like that" on July 09, 2021, in New York City

‘And Just Like That…’ marks a new chapter for the friend circle

Coming over 10 years after the last Sex and the City project, the revival series will center Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) as women in their 50s.

Details are limited, but Parker said the series will explore how their lives have transformed in the years since viewers last saw them.

“You know, who are they in this world now?” she told Vanity Fair. “Have they adapted? What part have they played? Where have they fallen short as women, as friends, and how are they finding their way? Did they move with momentum? Are they like some people who are confused, threatened, nervous [by what’s happening in the world]? I’m so curious and excited to see how the writers imagine these women today.”

What’s the release date for ‘And Just Like That…?’

Filming on And Just Like That… started in the spring in New York City. While an exact release date is not yet known, Collider reports that HBO Max intends to air it in the fall of 2021.

That’s a bit of a surprise, considering filming only started a few months ago. But it looks like things are moving along fairly quickly. Photos and videos of the cast and crew shooting scenes have constantly popped up online, suggesting at least a couple of episodes have already been completed by this point. If everything continues on schedule, a 2021 release date certainly seems possible. But we’ll see.

Who else will be in ‘And Just Like That…’

In addition to Parker, Nixon, and Davis, other returning actors include Chris Noth (Mr. Big), John Corbett (Aiden Shaw), Willie Garson (Stanford Blatch), David Eigenberg (Steve Brady), Evan Handler (Harry Goldenblatt), Julie Halston (Bitsy Von Muffling), Mario Cantone (Anthony Marentino), and Bridget Moynahan (Natasha Naginsky).

The cast of And Just Like That… also features a few new characters. Among them are Nicole Ari Parker (Lisa Todd Wexley) Sara Ramirez (Che Diaz), Sarita Choudhury (Seema Patel), and Karen Pittman (Dr. Nya Wallace).

As previously reported, Kim Cattrall isn’t involved in the revival. The actor has been clear about wanting to move on and focus on other things. But, as Parker previously said on Instagram, “she will always be part” of the show, no matter what.

Keep an eye out for And Just Like That… later this year.
