Eilish tweeted the news of her appearance along with an image of her Simpsonized self with Lisa on April 14. Disney+ confirmed with a press release. Here’s everything we know so far about When Billie Met Lisa.

When will Billie Eilish be on ‘The Simpsons’?

Since When Billie Met Lisa is a short, it won’t be on a regular Sunday night episode of The Simpsons on Fox. Disney+ will premiere the short on Friday, April 22. Half-hour episodes of The Simpsons still air Sundays at 8 p.m. on Fox.

The Simpsons have already produced three Disney+ shorts. Previously, they made the Star Wars spoof The Force Awakens From Its Nap, the Marvel spoof The Good, the Bart, and the Loki and the anniversary special The Simpsons in Plusaversary. When Billie Met Lisa is the fourth.

Disney+ also has the Simpsons short The Longest Daycare which was originally released to theaters along with Ice Age: Continental Drift. The Simpsons began as animated shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show.

What is ‘When Billie Met Lisa’ About?

Disney+ provided a synopsis of When Billie Met Lisa. Eilish will play herself, and her brother Finneas O’Connell appears too.

“In When Billie Met Lisa, Lisa Simpson is discovered by chart-topping artists Billie Eilish and FINNEAS while searching for a quiet place to practice her saxophone,” the synopsis read. “Billie invites Lisa to her studio for a special jam session she’ll never forget.”

What this could mean for Lisa Simpson

The Simpsons established Lisa’s musical inclinations in the season 1 episode “Moaning Lisa.” Lisa discovered the jazz of Bleeding Gums Murphy (voiced over the years by Ron Taylor, Daryl L. Coley, and Kevin Michael Richardson). The Simpsons also released an album, The Simpsons Sing the Blues. It did include some Lisa tracks, but “Do the Bartman” was the big single.

Murphy died in the season 6 episode “Round Springfield.” However, he has still appeared in flashbacks. In the April 10 episode “The Sound of Bleeding Gums,” Lisa discovers that Murphy had a son (John Autrey II) who is deaf. Even in non Murphy episodes, Lisa plays the saxophone.

The promotional art for When Billie Met Lisa shows Lisa in the studio with an animated Eilish. This all but promises a new Eilish track with Lisa Simpson backup. Musicians have also inspired Lisa. The aforementioned McCartneys taught Lisa about vegetarianism, which remains a character trait. Hopefully, Eilish has some wisdom to impart to Lisa too, though the McCartneys are a tough act to follow.
