How to watch ‘The Tomorrow War’

While it has the look and feel of a big blockbuster, Pratt’s new film won’t be released in theaters. Viewers will only be able to watch The Tomorrow War on Amazon Prime. 

Prime subscribers can view the film for free. Those without Prime will need to sign up for the service. New subscribers can also take advantage of the platform’s 30-day free trial.

The Tomorrow War hits Amazon Prime Video on Friday, Jul 2. Viewers may be able to catch it as early as 12 a.m. on Friday morning.

Along with Pratt, The Tomorrow War stars Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), J.K. Simmons (Whiplash), Sam Richardson (Veep), Jasmine Matthews (The Rookie), Keith Powers (Straight Outta Compton), and Betty Gilpin (GLOW).

Edwin Hodge (The Purge), Mary Lynn Rajskub (24), Seychelle Gabriel (Falling Skies), Mike Mitchell (Love), and Theo Von also star. 

Is ‘The Tomorrow War’ rated R or PG-13?

Pratt is known for his family-friendly movies, including the Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy series. So viewers with kids and teens may be wondering if his new film falls in the same category.

The Tomorrow War is rated PG-13, which means it is suitable for children ages 13 and up, with parental caution. The movie features action sequences, violence, language, and some suggestive references. 

What is ‘The Tomorrow War’ about? 

The Tomorrow War tells the story of Dan Forester (Chris Pratt), a father who encounters a team of time-travelers who come back in time to warn people about a future war. The only way to save humanity is for soldiers and civilians to travel to the future and help fight the battle against an alien invader. Determined to save his daughter and the world, Dan signs up for the mission and heads to the future to fight. 

“The film is a big fun action-adventure that takes place in 2021 as well as in 2051,” Pratt revealed in a recent Amazon Prime Video India interview with Bollywood star Varun Dhawan. “So, this war is being raged against the invading alien forces, though it takes place 30 years away.”

“30 years can be pretty quick, and the world can change,” he added. “It really poses the question whether or not we should rely on science and innovations to save the world and create solutions for the things that are happening in the world today.”

Is ‘The Tomorrow War’ on Netflix or Hulu?

Unfortunately, The Tomorrow War is not streaming on Netflix or Hulu. The film was slated to hit theaters. 

But due to the pandemic, its distribution rights were acquired by Amazon. So, for now,  it is streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.
