The Umbrella Academy Season 3 is only a few months away, and excitement from fans is building. Our favorite supernatural siblings were in quite a pickle when we last left them in The Umbrella Academy Season 2. That’s why we thought a quick refresher of the first two seasons was in need to get everyone ready for the premiere.

'The Umbrella Academy' Season 3 features the Hargreeves, seen here standing in their childhood home, will face off against The Sparrow Academy in episode 1.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 1 saw Vanya Hargreeves set off the apocalypse

When we first met the Hargreeves siblings in The Umbrella Academy Season 1, they were scattered all over the globe and the moon. Over the years, their father’s lack of affection, sympathy, or any emotion other than disgust caused resentment between the brothers and sisters. However, when Reginald died, the team reunited for his funeral.

During the lackluster scattering of his ashes, their missing brother, Five, returned from the future with some devastating news: The world would end in eight days. Together the remaining Hargreeves (plus Ben’s ghost) joined forces to try to save the world. However, they eventually learn their sister Vanya causes the apocalypse and must stop her to save the world.

Thanks to some quick thinking from Allison, she manages to stop Vanya’s epic temper tantrum. With Five’s time-traveling abilities, the Hargreeves plan to go back in time to change the course of events that led to Vanya causing the apocalypse. Five whisks him and the rest of his family away just before a fragment of the moon crashes into earth.

‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 2 centers around the JFK assassination

When audiences pick up in The Umbrella Academy Season 2, the Hargreeves are scattered throughout different years. Eventually, Five brings the gang back together to stop yet another apocalypse caused by Vanya. In true dysfunctional fashion, each sibling has a different plan in mind, leading to some chaotic moments. Diego is determined to stop the assassination of John F. Kennedy Jr., while Allison puts her efforts into helping the Civil Rights Movement. Klaus leads a cult, and Vanya is blissfully unaware of her supernatural past.

The group works together to defeat The Handler and other influential members of The Commission. Along with the minor issue of trying to save the world, The Umbrella Academy discovers they have another “sibling,” Lila. However, The Handler raised her as her daughter, complicating matters.

Vanya also learns that Sissy, the woman she loves, has a son who suspiciously seems to have his own powers. Throw in Diego falling in love, and there are more than enough plot points to wrap your head around in The Umbrella Academy Season 2.

The Sparrow Academy takes center stage in the upcoming season

After averting the apocalypse once again, Five, Vanya, Luther, Diego, Allison, and Klaus return to the present timeline… or so they think. When they arrive at their childhood home, they find another “academy” in their place – The Sparrow Academy. Reginald, who died in the original timeline, has no recollection of his original children. Instead, an evil version of Ben Hargreeves leads The Sparrow Academy

Has the original Umbrella Academy met their match? Will they need to defeat The Sparrow Academy, or will the two groups join forces to save the world yet again? Those are just a few of the questions audiences hope to find answers to in The Umbrella Academy Season 3. Thankfully, only a couple of days stand in the way of the premiere on June 22, 2022.
