The Umbrella Academy Season 3 arrives on Netflix in a little less than five weeks, but fans finally got a bit more information about the upcoming season’s plot in the full-length trailer today. Showrunner Steve Blackman remained tight-lipped about the trouble the Hargreeves get themselves into this time around. However, fans saw the siblings create an alternate timeline in the season 2 finale. Now, they deal with how to fix the problem.

Vanya and Viktor both exist in ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3

The Umbrella Academy introduced fans to Viktor Hargreeves on March 29 via social media. Because Elliot Page, who previously played Vanya, came out as transgender in 2020, most people believed the introduction of Viktor implied that Vanya transitioned as well. However, some fans thought Viktor might exist in a different timeline from Vanya.

It appears those fans were on to something. The Umbrella Academy Season 3 full-length trailer shows both Vanya and Viktor. How the story reconciles the existence of both in the future remains a mystery.

Fans might see double in the new season

When we last caught up with the Hargreeves in season 2, they successfully saved the world yet again and returned home using Five’s powers. While things seemed peachy with Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Five, and Vanya, they returned to the present year to discover they had created an alternate timeline. In the new timeline, The Umbrella Academy didn’t exist, and instead, The Sparrow Academy had taken its place. This new group came across as much more sinister, and they certainly weren’t happy when the original siblings appeared. Perhaps, the most significant change, though, saw Ben as the ring leader of The Sparrow Academy.

Ben died during his teenage years in the previous timeline, but he’s the leader of The Sparrow Academy in the new timeline. Not only that, gone is the sweet, kind Ben of before. Instead, a much angrier version replaced him. This leads fans to believe there’s a chance we might see alternate versions of the other siblings as well.

In The Umbrella Academy Season 3 trailer, Five warns Diego, Luther, and Klaus, “Dad didn’t adopt us as babies, but those babies still existed here. So, if you ever see your other self -“

“Kill them!” Diego says, just as Klaus answers, “Sleep with them!”

Avoid them,” Five demands, while Luther wonders aloud, “What the hell is wrong with you two?”

Somehow the group created a time paradox when they returned from the ‘60s, or a “kugelblitz,” as Five calls it. They just need to figure out how to fix it. No big deal, right?

This ain’t your mama’s Pogo in ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Season 3

So far, fans saw Pogo as a father-like figure to The Umbrella Academy in season 1 and a baby in season 2 when they time-traveled to the 1960s. The Umbrella Academy Season 3 trailer gives us a whole new Pogo. Five enters a dark, smoky building in one of the last scenes in the trailer to find a man getting tattooed by none other than our favorite talking monkey. He wears a vest, smokes a cigarette, and certainly doesn’t look like he has time for the antics of the Hargreeves.

Thankfully, we only have a few more weeks to wait before we can watch it all play out for ourselves. The Umbrella Academy Season 3 premieres exclusively on Netflix on June 22, 2022.
