Elisabeth Hasselbeck is coming back to The View as a guest co-host. The conservative voice will be sharing the “Hot Topics” table with the rest of the ladies for one day. Meghan McCain is happy to see her return as she is a fan of her work on the daytime talk show. However, if you ask fans on social media, the reactions are not positive at all.

Fans react to Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s comeback

Ahead of Hasselbeck’s return to The View as a guest co-host, the show teased her comeback on Twitter.

“Tomorrow: Our friend [Hasselbeck] is joining us back at the ‘Hot Topics’ table as guest co-host,” the verified account posted.

The reaction from fans of the daytime talk show was unexpected and there were a lot of negative comments about Hasselbeck.

“Seriously? Meghan and Elisabeth? Why the torment? What did we do wrong to deserve this?” a fan questioned.

“Can’t stand her. Won’t be watching. She was one of the reasons I stopped watching years ago,” a viewer added.

“Thanks for the warning. Good day to find something else to watch,” a Twitter user commented.

“I have to watch Meghan. Why in the world would I want to add Hasselbeck to that nightmare?” another fan pondered.

“Boo! Was so excited when she was fired. If they bring her back permanently I will never watch the show again,” another viewer wrote.

“No thanks. Hard pass. Self-isolation for me,” another Twitter user said.

Whoopi Goldberg confirms Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s return

Last week, Nashville was devastated by a tornado outbreak. Hasselbeck lives in the area and Whoopi Goldberg sent her thoughts and best wishes for the former co-host and her family.

“I need to start on a very serious note,” Goldberg said at the top of the hour. “Last night, a number of tornadoes tore through Nashville and rural Tennessee claiming the lives of at least 19 people thus far. We are thinking about everyone dealing with this.”

Goldberg continued: “Our friend Elisabeth lives there and I wanted to make sure she and her family were OK, and they are alright. Lissie, we’ll see you next week when you’re a guest co-host.”

At the same time, Goldberg said that Hasselbeck would be a guest co-host on March 11.

Meghan McCain fans out

McCain fanned out when Goldberg confirmed the OG conservative voice of the panel would be on the show.

“She’s the only woman I would give up my chair for,” McCain said. “She can sit in the conservative chair anytime. She’s the OG. I love her.”

The Republican political analyst had a similar reaction when Hasselbeck had visited the set in March 2019. At the time, the former co-host was promoting a book that she authored. McCain had a big question on her mind as the new conservative voice.

“How in God’s name did you do this for 10 years? Being the lone conservative on this show is… I’ve always had respect for you. When I first came on my first day I said, ‘I wish to emulate Elisabeth,’ because you really were the OG of this seat,” McCain said.

Hasselbeck said that everyone has a voice and as a co-host, you hold your friends with one hand and your values with the other.

“The goal is to keep the conversation going because you have to come back the next day and have another one,” Hasselbeck added.

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. CT/PT.
