How did Brooke Simpson do on ‘The Voice’?

For her Blind Audition, Simpson performed “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato, which earned the singer a four-chair turn. Season 13 coaches Blake Shelton, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, and Adam Levine fought hard to bring Simpson to their teams, but the singer ultimately chose Cyrus as her coach.

“Do you guys smell that? It smells like victory,” Levine said after hearing Simpson’s powerful performance.

The Hollister, North Carolina native continued to impress the coaches and fans throughout the remainder of season 13. She made it to the finale, where she came in third place behind Levine’s Addison Agen and Shelton’s Chloe Kohanski, who won the season. All Top 3 singers started out on Cyrus’s team before Levine and Shelton stole Agen and Kohanski.

During an interview with Reality TV World, Simpson revealed that she learned “so much” from Cyrus.

“Honestly, working with Miley was a dream, and it still is a dream. I know it’s just the beginning for our friendship and working relationship…But I learned so much,” she said. “I learned how to be a collaborator, I learned how to be an even more creative person…She’s honestly one of the most genuine humans I’ve ever met, and just getting that opportunity to get to know her and learn from her when it comes to music and just life in general, it was such an honor.”

Simpson kept her momentum going after The Voice. As Talent Recap noted, the singer recorded a single called “2 AM” right after the season ended. After that, she went on to release more singles over the course of the next four years, including “Stick Like Honey,” “Little Bit Crazy,” “Real Long Nails,” and more. She debuted an EP, called So Tired, in February 2021.

When she’s not in the studio, Simpson is on the stage. According to The Warren Record, Simpson will perform in a revival of the Broadway musical 1776 at Harvard University’s American Reparatory Theater. The musical follows the United States’ Founding Fathers before they signed the Declaration of Independence. 1776 is slated to premiere in 2022.

Simpson has taken another shot at talent competitions. Back in May, the singer announced that she auditioned for America’s Got Talent. Fans can see her audition in the June 22, 2021 episode, where she wowed the judges with a cover of Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You.” Her husband, Ray Simpson, performed beside her on the piano.

“It was a fantastic audition. Amazing, amazing, amazing,” judge Simon Cowell said, according to Entertainment Tonight.

It’s unclear at this time where Simpson’s journey on America’s Got Talent will go. However, after coming so close to a win on The Voice, it seems Simpson has the potential to go very far in this competition.
