The Weeknd is performing at Super Bowl 55

Following Jennifer Lopez’s performance last year, The Weeknd is headlining this year’s Super Bowl. Though there have been some theories about The Weeknd having special guests during the ceremony, the singer insists that he’ll be riding solo.

“I’ve been reading a lot of rumors,” he said Thursday in an interview on The NFL Network. “There wasn’t any room to fit it in the narrative and the story I was telling in the performance. So there’s no special guests, no.” This is different from Lopez, who brought out Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

On Tuesday, Pepsi is debuted its second national television ad starring The Weeknd. The commercial is titled “The Walk.” It is voiced by The Weeknd’s longtime friend and and creative director, La Mar Taylor.

According to a press release from Pepsi, the spot “picks up right where the first national TVC ‘Get Ready’ left off, with The Weeknd pulling into the stadium for Super Bowl gameday, ready to take the stage.”

In the commercial, The Weeknd out the tunnel toward the field, “reflecting on his musical journey and meteoric rise in music and entertainment over the last decade.” The commercial will air right before Super Bowl 55’s kick-off, but fans can watch it on Pepsi’s digital hub. The hub can be accessed online and/or through unique QR codes on Pepsi Halftime Show packaging..
