Despite a global pandemic, The Weeknd‘s latest album, After Hours, got a big boost due to everyone staying at home.

After Hours is just another example in a long line of examples of why The Weeknd is so successful as an artist. A result of all that success, is of course, a lot of money.

And, like any other celebrity, there’s no better way to spend his millions than with buying expensive cars. Here’s a look at what’s inside The Weeknd’s garage, which he loves to show off in his music videos.

The Weeknd’s net worth

Contrary to popular belief, The Weeknd is not actually an American singer, he’s Canadian. Like other Canadian artists though, his fame really blew up in the U.S., and it didn’t take him long before he won his first Grammy. Thanks to the four albums that he’s made so far, he’s currently estimated to be worth about $90 million.

One of the reasons why he’s become so popular so quickly was because of his 2016 song and collaboration with Daft Punk, Starboy. This song was a massive hit and it currently has over 1.5 billion views on YouTube. And, on top of that, ‘Starboy’ features his expensive cars very prominently.

A quick look at The Weeknd’s garage

In ‘Starboy’, he sings several verses that car lovers can relate to. For example, Billboard wrote that one verse said, “We don’t pray for love, we just pray for cars,” while other verses went into detail about which cars he loves the most. Those cars seem to be the likes of the Lamborghini Aventador or the Bentley Mulsanne.

According to CarBuzz,  he does indeed own and drive an Aventador. The Aventador that he sings about was an SV Roadster, which is worth over $500,000. The Aventador also shows up briefly in the ‘Starboy’ video, and it was also likely brand-new since the SV Roadster was only built in 2016.

This Aventador SV Roadster had a 6.5-liter V12 engine which generated 750-hp. The main difference between the SV Roadster and the regular Aventador Roadster is the fact that it’s about 100-pounds lighter and thus, slightly faster than usual.

The Weeknd also briefly mentions the Mulsanne and it also shows up briefly in the ‘Starboy’ video. That said, this $300,000 car, while it’s big and fancy, isn’t as fast or as powerful as the Aventador. It’s a luxury car first and foremost, so its power doesn’t really matter as much as its comfort does.

In terms of comfort and utility, The Weeknd, according to CarBuzz, also has a Mercedes-AMG G63. This $150,000 luxury SUV is powerful and luxurious, but not very fast since it is an SUV.

The McLaren P1 steals the show

But, as Billboard wrote, the McLaren P1 is not only mentioned in ‘Starboy,’ but The Weeknd also drives it around in the video. This may not have been a planned promotion either, as McLaren’s PR team were surprised by it. On top of that, The Weeknd gave the car a glowing review, singing, “P1 cleaner than your church shoes.”

There’s a lot of truth to that statement. The P1 in the video is not only literally clean, but it’s also a hybrid supercar.

The P1 has a 3.8-liter V8 that works with an electric motor to generate over 900-hp. This allows it to hit 218 MPH, according to Billboard, while being less polluting. On top of that, only 375 P1s have been made so far, and each one is worth $1.5 million.

While the P1 won’t take The Weeknd to the stars, it is certainly a cleaner car than its competitors.
