‘The Young and the Restless’ is pre-empted due to college basketball

Pre-emptions are a common occurrence in daytime TV. The Young and the Restless often doesn’t air because of circumstances like the holidays or breaking news stories. Fans will be facing more pre-emptions because of March Madness.

CBS won’t be airing the soap opera or its sister show The Bold and the Beautiful on March 17th and 18th because of NCAA Tournament. March Madness is a significant event in college basketball as teams battle it out for a chance to win the national championship. While soap fans may not see the drama in Genoa City, they can see the chaos play out on the basketball court.

New episodes of ‘The Young and the Restless’ will return next week

The Young and the Restless fans will be without the Genoa City chaos for two days, but there’s no need to worry. New episodes of the soap opera will be back on Monday, March 21st. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the drama promises to be explosive.

Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is caught in a war between her family and her husband, Ashland Locke (Robert Newman). She doesn’t believe Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) claims that Ashland faked his illness and supported her husband by making him co-CEO of Newman Locke. But Victoria will regret that decision because her world will implode, and she’ll realize daddy was right.

Aside from the Newman family drama, a new romance might be on the horizon. Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) has a bad day, but things will get better when she’s comforted by Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso). The two pals have become chummy recently, and speculation is their friendship will turn romantic. While fans support the pair, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) won’t be happy.

The cast pokes fun at March Madness

Soap operas and basketball can make for dramatic, edge-of-your-seat viewing. Although the March Madness tournament is pre-empting their show, the cast is taking it in stride. Recently, The Young and the Restless posted a skit poking fun at the drama of basketball.
