‘The Young and the Restless’ Sharon Case Spills What Her Favorite Wedding Episode Was
Romance is in the air for fans of The Young and the Restless. The show recently hosted a special event which featured throwback wedding episodes of several popular couples.
Everyone enjoyed the event, but actress Sharon Case has especially strong feelings about “Weddings Week.” Her choice for the best couple may surprise you.
Who is Sharon Case?
After a modeling career, and several parts in various soaps, Case joined The Young and the Restless in 1994. She took on the role of Sharon Newman, who is often known on the popular show as “the girl from the wrong side of the track,” and continues to play that role today.
Three other actresses played the role of Sharon Newman before Case took on the role. But after over a quarter of a decade with the character, she has turned it into something to be proud of. During an interview with the Los Angeles Times in 1995, Case described how she felt about the role.
“I really connect to Sharon,” Case said. “I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because we have the same name.”
She has also won several awards for the role, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the Daytime Emmy Awards in 1999. Critics have referred to her performance as “flawless.” But The Young and the Restless fans are the ones who really know how much Case has brought to the character.
‘The Young and the Restless’ Weddings Week
Recently, The Young and the Restless hosted “Weddings Week,” during which they re-aired several popular wedding episodes. The event was prompted after the show ran out of new episodes and has been unable to film because of Coronavirus restrictions.
Since April 27, both The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful began airing throwback episodes as a way to keep viewers interested until filming can resume. Plus, everyone loves a good wedding.
Over five weekdays, the show aired five weddings, including when Case’s character married Nick. The other featured weddings included Cricket and Danny’s Hawaii wedding, Malcolm and Olivia’s wedding, Phyllis and Nick’s nuptials, and the dangerous events surrounding Victor and Nikki‘s wedding.
Sharon Case’s favorite wedding episode
Case recently shared her opinion about Wedding’s Week with her Twitter followers. Out of all the wedding which will be featured during the event, it appears that Case’s favorite is when her character married Nick.
“OG Shick wedding,” her tweet said.
“Shick” is the nickname given to the couple on social media.
It’s not really a surprise that Case would choose a couple that she played a role in as her favorite. But she’s not the only one with tender feelings about the romance. Even though they are no longer together, Sharon and Nick were always a popular couple with fans. The Huffington Post even included the sweethearts in their list of the Greatest Soap Opera Supercouples.
The wedding originally aired in 1996, but fans have been rooting for the two ever since, and joined Case in their nostalgic feelings about the couple. On Twitter, fans seemed to agree that “Shick” was a great choice for a favorite.
“I have always wanted Nick and Sharon to get back together,” one person commented on her post. “Pisses me off every time they don’t.”
“Best #YR wedding to date! I will ride with #Shick to the very end, they are the very best couple in all of Genoa City!” Another wrote.
Everyone loves a great wedding, so fans will probably enjoy every throwback episode during Weddings Week, but it’s certainly understandable that “shick” is a favorite, especially for Case.
