Sally Spectra is in Genoa City and she’s already making a splash on The Young and the Restless. The character’s portrayer, Courtney Hope, spoke about Sally being on the show now, moving from The Bold and the Beautiful, and what to expect now that she is shaking things up.
Sally Spectra has moved from ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ to ‘The Young and the Restless’
The actress first debuted as Sally Spectra on The Bold and the Beautiful in 2017 as a series regular. Sally is the granddaughter of the original Sally Spectra, who is an iconic character in The Bold and the Beautiful history. The original Sally was portrayed by Darlene Conley.
Hope’s Sally was set to bring back the Spectra family on the show. She had a younger sister, Coco Spectra, that was introduced, as well as some other characters associated with the Spectras. Sally was written off the show in 2018 but she was brought back not long after. The character most known for leading Spectra Fashions, her relationship with Wyatt Spencer, and having several feuds with her rival, Steffy Forrester.
After the character was scaled back on The Bold and the Beautiful, Hope was picked up by its sister soap, The Young and the Restless, to reprise the character. “We really enjoyed Courtney’s work on The Bold and the Beautiful. Sally Spectra is a colorful character that fans love watching,” said The Young and the Restless head writer and co-EP Josh Griffith said in a statement at the time. “We are excited for her to stir things up in Genoa City and join our talented cast.”
Courtney Hope previews what’s to come for Sally Spectra on ‘The Young and the Restless’
Hope spoke about what Sally will be up to in Genoa City in a recent interview with Soaps in Depth.
“She’s trying to establish herself back in business,” she said. “Standing firm in her ability to create. I think that’s something that’s very important. It’s interesting to see Sally move forward in business and kind of have that spunky mentality that she had in the beginning when she first came to L.A. Really wanting to make her dreams come true. So that’s been really, really fun to see come back around.”
Sally had a lot of struggles in Los Angeles and Hope hopes that it’s not something that will persist in her new life in Genoa City.
“I would love to see her have some wins,” she added. “In career, in relationships, pretty much everywhere. I feel like it’s been a really long time since Sally has had that. Obviously, she’s going to have a little bit of trouble here and there because somebody’s going to start a little trouble or she can be very ambitious so she’s never safe in this happy relationship or a happy job. But just for my own sake, it’s like, poor thing has been through a lot. I would like her to have some wins!”
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS.
