These Clapbacks Prove Martha Stewart Is the Queen of Brutal Insults

Martha Stewart is known for being really good at entertaining and hosting. The 79-year-old media maven and best-selling cookbook author has a name that’s synonymous with perfection. She whips up gourmet meals, elegant tablescapes, and can’t-miss dinner parties like it’s nothing.

But even though Stewart is fantastic at making everything look beautiful, she’s not above dishing out snarky retorts when the occasion demands. Here are a few surprisingly sarcastic and unfriendly things the Food Network host has said over the years.

Martha Stewart never meant to become Martha Stewart

Before she started writing cookbooks and hosting instructional cooking shows on the Food Network, Stewart worked as a high-powered stock trader on Wall Street. But even when she was wearing suits and crunching numbers, the Martha Stewart Living founder dabbled in domestic arts on the side. This wound up making her famous.

It’s all because of a dinner party Stewart hosted for Crown Publishing executive Alan Mirken. He was so impressed with her hosting skills that he suggested she write a book about it. The rest, as they say, is history.

Stewart may be queen of the kitchen but she’s no quiet wallflower. Over the years, the lifestyle brand owner has dished out quite a few stinging insults that are just as clever as they are hilarious.

The Martha Knows Best host makes fun of other celebrities most of all, including the time she said Rachael Ray’s cookbook was “not good enough for her,” Delish reported. And it appears she has no filter when it comes to serving up these scathing critiques.

Martha Stewart has no love for Gwyneth Paltrow

The Food Network host seems to make fun of everyone all the time. But one particular target of her disdain is A-list actor and Goop brand founder Gwyneth Paltrow. In 2013, Stewart mocked the brand and called it a total ripoff, saying she herself “started this whole category of lifestyle.”

Further, Stewart concluded that Paltrow, “needs to be quiet. She’s a movie star. If she were confident in her acting, she wouldn’t be trying to be Martha Stewart.”

Her mockery of Chelsea Handler’s ‘thirst trap’ pool photo is legendary

Stewart’s comebacks extend beyond words. The media mogul turned a few heads when she posted a photo of herself dripping wet and emerging from a pool in a sexy looking shot on Instagram. But perhaps the funniest part of all is Stewart staged the shot to mimic — and mock — comedian Chelsea Handler, who posted the exact same photo in all seriousness.

Everyone on social media got a good laugh out of the “thirst trap” photo while simultaneously being impressed with how fit Stewart is at the age of 78. The former model may have posted the photo in jest, but it got a favorable reaction all the same.

It’s worth pointing out that Stewart has served time in prison, which may be how she developed such thick skin and a biting sense of humor.
