These Two Disney Channel Stars Are Not Engaged, Despite What Twitter Says
False information has spread like wildfire on Twitter and several media outlets, leading people to believe that former Disney Channel stars Raven Goodwin and Micah Stephen Williams are engaged. However, that is the farthest thing from the truth, and the Ivy and Emmett actors from Good Luck Charlie are not together.
Who is Raven Goodwin?
Goodwin is a 27-year-old actress who has starred in television series. She got her start on Nickelodeon and Disney, starring in Just Jordan from 2007-2008 and recurring on Good Luck Charlie from 2010-2014.
Transitioning to adult roles, she starred on BET’s Being Mary Jane with Gabrielle Union from 2013-2019, and Showtime’s SMILF from 2017-2019. Next year, she’ll appear in the Lifetime biopic, The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel.
In May, Goodwin announced her engagement on Instagram. For some reason, people have started to think that she is engaged to Micah Stephen Williams, who also recurred on Good Luck Charlie as Emmett.
Why do people think Raven Goodwin and Micah Stephen Williams are engaged?
It is unknown when the rumor that Goodwin and Williams were engaged started. However, Essence did publish an article in May 2019, stating that Goodwin and Williams were set to tie the knot.
As millennials and 2000s kids started to revisit and rediscover Good Luck Charlie when Disney+ debuted, the rumor began to circulate again on Twitter.
“So I just found out this amazing news and I feel like a lot of people don’t know about this, the actors who played Ivy and Emmitt on Good Luck Charlie are getting married,” someone tweeted.
This led Goodwin to address the matter in a now-deleted tweet, saying that this information was false and that Williams is not her fiance.
Raven Goodwin is actually engaged to Wiley Battle
Goodwin’s actual fiance is Wiley Battle. Not much is known about Battle, and it seems their personal life is kept under wraps outside of the engagement announcement. However, Battle did attend the recent 2019 Soul Train Awards with Goodwin.
Williams seems to have kept a low profile since starring in Good Luck Charlie. He doesn’t seem to have any public social media pages. He is still acting though, and had a minor role in an episode of FX’s Snowfall this year.
Though there are still several comments on Goodwin’s engagement Instagram post, many are now realizing that Battle is not Williams. “ITS NOT HIM STOP BOTHERING HER,” commented one person. “It’s not him she’s said it wasn’t him so many times,” said another.
We can’t imagine how it feels to get the identity of your future spouse mixed up, but we send all of our congrats to Battle and Goodwin as they prepare for their wedding!
