What can fans expect from Season 6 of ‘This Is Us’?

The show’s January debut was a decision that will ultimately benefit viewers of the NBC series, who will have the opportunity to watch the season mostly uninterrupted, through 18 episodes in total.

This Is Us will likely air its final episode in May 2022.

Among other story plot points, season six will find an aging Rebecca Pearson, played by Mandy Moore, dealing with her memory loss due to her rapidly progressing Alzheimer’s Disease.

The character of Rebecca is at the forefront of the teaser video. She admits, “I’m losing my memory. Sometimes I think about what my very last memory will be before the candle goes out.”

Other scenes previewed were the first time Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) met, Rebecca and Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) wedding, and birthdays celebrated by the big three, including Kate, Randall (Sterling K. Brown), and Kevin (Justin Hartley).

Also teased was the burgeoning relationship between Kate and Phillip (Chris Geere), which will eventually lead to marriage.

This Is Us was renewed through Season 6 in 2019. The creative team behind the series has made it clear that season six would be the last, which has documented the ups and downs of family life for the Pearson clan.

“We never set out to make a television series that was going to last 18 seasons, so we have a straightforward plan. I have script pages I have written. We have a plan for what we’re going to do, and I know what the plan is,” series creator Dan Fogelman said to The Hollywood Reporter in April 2019.

Eventually, the characters would have to play catch up to the future laid out for them during an emotional fast-forward teased in the season 3 finale where Rebecca lay on her death bed in Kevin’s house in the mountains.

Fans react to the ’emotional’ trailer

In a series of comments shared on the show’s Instagram page, fans reacted strongly to the events unfolding for the Pearson clan.

“I’m not ready for this to end,” wrote one follower.

“I’m already crying. I’m already DISTRAUGHT,” penned a second viewer.

“I am literally sobbing at this! What are we going to do when it ends? No more ‘big three’!” exclaimed a third Instagram user.

“I’m not crying. You are,” claimed a fourth fan.
