‘This Is Us’ Has Fans Excited and Worried About Rebecca and Miguel in Season 6 Episode 5
The This Is Us team promised fans Miguel (Jon Huertas) and Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) backstory in season 6. Now, it seems like episode 5 might actually deliver. The latest This Is Us Season 6 promo for the Feb. 1 episode teased a big moment for the couple. So naturally, many viewers believe this is the beginning of Rebecca and Miguel’s romance. But others think the new story is actually about the end of their friendship.

‘This Is Us’ Season 6 Episode 5 teases Rebecca and Miguel moving on after Jack
In the preview for This Is Us Season 6 Episode 5, the NBC drama goes back to the past as Rebecca and Miguel figure out their lives after Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) death. Miguel says his friend told him about speed dating, and he seemingly suggests that they try it out.
At first, Rebecca is hesitant about the idea. However, Miguel hints that “it’s time” to get back out there. So the two end up speed dating with other people. But is this the beginning of Rebecca and Miguel as we know it? We’ll have to wait and see what happens next.
‘This Is Us’ fans are excited about the Miguel and Rebecca story in season 6 episode 5
Following the trailer for This Is Us Season 6 Episode 5, many fans expressed their excitement for Rebecca and Miguel’s story.
“We’re finally getting to see how Rebecca and Miguel come together and I’m so excited,” a fan wrote on YouTube.
“i have always been wondering how rebecca and miguel ultimately got together,” another fan wrote. “Im so excited to see how their relationship progresses!”
That said, some This Is Us viewers predicted that episode 5 won’t show how Rebecca and Miguel got together. Rather, they think that the new episode on Feb. 1 will reveal how they lost touch before reconnecting on social media years later.
“I think something happens with them during speed dating and Rebecca looses it and that’s how they don’t end up talking for 8 years,” a fan wrote. “Producers said a big chunk of this season is revolved around Miguel and Rebecca’s relationship.”
What to expect from Rebecca and Miguel in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6
This Is Us Season 6 will eventually dive into all the heartbreak and romance between Miguel and Rebecca. When speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Huertas teased that the upcoming rift between the two characters is “one of the saddest moments.” Meanwhile, Moore shared that the story is “heartbreaking” and relatable.
“Rebecca and Miguel collectively reach this boiling point where neither of them can ignore that there’s sort of this unspoken chemistry. And someone needs to do something about it,” Moore said. “It’s heartbreaking and so true to life.”
That said, This Is Us fans will have to wait and see whether this Miguel-Rebecca storyline plays out in the next few episodes. But whenever it happens, brace yourselves. There are only 14 episodes left in the sixth and final season.
