‘This is Us’ Fans Ticked Off, Claim Trailer Tells Them ‘Nothing’ About What’s to Come During Season 6
Fans of This Is Us appear to be ticked off over the new trailer for the sixth and final season of the NBC series. The vignette, which sets up the storyline for the series ender, dropped on Thanksgiving Day. Viewers who were hopeful that they would get some in-depth character spoilers appeared to be sorely disappointed.
What did the new trailer for ‘This Is Us’ reveal?
The new trailer for This Is Us gave fans a look at Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) life from the time she met her husband Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) until the present day when she worried aloud about her last memory be before Alzheimer’s took away these precious moments.
The character of Rebecca is at the forefront of the teaser video. She admits, “I’m losing my memory. Sometimes I think about what my very last memory will be before the candle goes out.”
Other scenes previewed were the first time Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan) met, Rebecca and Jack’s (Milo Ventimiglia) wedding, and birthdays celebrated by the big three including Kate, Randall (Sterling K. Brown), and Kevin (Justin Hartley).
The trailer did not give away any teasers, leaving fans disappointed
Fans were ticked off at the first look at the highly anticipated final season of This Is Us.
They appeared to have wanted more from the show after waiting a total of eight months for the final season to begin.
“The trailer doesn’t tell us anything about the upcoming season,” penned one fan in the caption of the Instagram post seen above.
“Wait. That’s not a trailer. Looked more like a recap of other seasons. Can we get a proper trailer of frames from the finale season, please!” claimed a second Instagram user.
“Stop calling it a trailer. It was a recap of the series so far with some dialogue. That’s not a trailer,” deadpanned a third viewer.
“I was disappointed by the trailer. Gave us nothing about the new season, just a recap!” wrote a fourth fan.
The love story of Jack and Rebecca continues to be explored
This Is Us showrunner Dan Fogelman tweeted his first set photo from the last season of the titular NBC series in September of this year.
The image shows the Pearson family matriarch and patriarch as they display their love for one another. The love the characters of Jack and Rebecca have has been the crux of the series, which will air its 6th and final season beginning Jan. 2022.
Viewers can continue to watch the Pearson clan experience ups and downs in their relationships with each other and those in their innermost circle.
The series has told the story of 40 years in the characters’ growth and will continue to roll time backward and forward.
This effective storytelling model allows the viewer to experience titular moments in character growth.
This Is Us will return to NBC on Tuesdays, Jan. 4, at 9 p.m. EST.
