This Is Us debuted on NBC on Sept. 20, 2016. The drama quickly caught on with viewers. They enjoyed the story of a family who had endured many difficulties throughout their lifetime but managed to remain close.
However, there was an uncertainty of what This Is Us could become as a series at the time. The first episode tried to deliver a lot of information into 42-minutes. The series jumped around too much between the past and present.
IndieWire gave the first episode a C grade in a review shortly after its premiere. They called it “a particularly infuriating title for what seems like a secretively simple series.”
Flash forward six years and eight major industry awards for acting, and the series has evolved into a true family drama with a dedicated fan base. Viewers are anxiously awaiting how the drama will wrap its current storylines, and now, a final date for when the series will take its last bow.

According to People Magazine, the date of the This Is Us finale is May 24, 2022.
On Feb. 11, This Is Us showrunner Dan Fogelman and the cast, including Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, and Jon Huertas, shared the news during NBC’s Scripted Press Day panel.
The final season is currently airing.
Episode 6, titled “Our Little Island Girl: Part Two,” will air on Feb. 22.
This new episode piggybacks one from season three titled “Our Little Island Girl,” which centered on Beth’s reflection of her past and her unfulfilled dreams of becoming a dancer. Currently, Beth’s dream of owning and operating her dance school hits a critical point.
What types of storylines can fans expect ahead of the ‘This Is Us’ finale?
During the press event, several cast members commented on what viewers could expect moving forward into the final episodes of the series.
“It’s going to deliver. It’s truly, truly going to deliver,” Ventimiglia said of the finale.
“Towards the end of the season, it’s fair to say we’ll live there more,” said Fogelman.
This statement referred to future events teased in previous episodes of the series. Fans will reportedly learn more about Kate’s second marriage, Rebecca’s death, and the future of Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby’s (Chris Sullivan) son Jack Jr.
This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
