‘This Is Us’: Mandy Moore’s $2.6 Million Home Is Nothing Like Rebecca Pearson’s

Mandy Moore is a Hollywood veteran. She first rose to fame in 1999 as a pop musician with the song, “Candy.” Then she began acting. Moore played Anne Hathaway’s foil in The Princess Diaries before landing the starring role in 2002’s A Walk to Remember opposite Shane West. 

She now plays the matriarch of the Pearson family, Rebecca Pearson, on This Is Us. An aspiring singer-turned-mother, Moore portrays Rebecca in the 1980s and 1990s, all the way to the present.

Although in real life, her own place is a departure from the Pearson home. Moore and her musician husband, Taylor Goldsmith, share a 1950s home with modern touches.

Moore’s real-life home looks nothing like the Pearson family home on This Is Us that met a sad fate. Rebecca, her husband Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia), and their three children lived in a bungalow that reflected the decade. And as This Is Us fans know because of the community pool storyline, there certainly wasn’t a pool in the backyard.

However, there’s at least one touch in Moore’s home that means if her on-screen kids were to come over they’d feel right at home.

“There’s nothing so precious that a little wear and tear from kids or dogs would be a calamity,” she said. 

It sounds like the actor wouldn’t have any issues with a This Is Us style sequin fight breaking out in her living room either.

Moore and Goldsmith house-hunted for almost a year before finding their current $2.6 million home in Pasadena, California. What sold them on the property? 

“We fell in love with the views, the pool, the yard, basically the whole energy of the place,” Moore told Architectural Digest in 2018.

The couple renovated the entire home to give it a modern feel while staying true to the home’s 1950s roots. The SAG Award-winning actor gave Architectural Digest a tour of her home in a YouTube video where she showed off the property’s stunning views, pool, kitchen, and floor-to-ceiling glass walls.

Moore is no stranger to being a homeowner. She purchased her own place in 2002. Although she never felt truly at home in the five-bedroom Mediterranean-style space. 

“I lived there for 15 years, and even though the house went through several iterations, it never felt wholly mine,” Moore said. “I bought it when I was 18. I really didn’t know myself, and I never felt secure enough to bring a lot of people there.”

Moore and Goldsmith are becoming parents. As previously mentioned, Moore debuted her baby bump in a September 2020 Instagram post. They’re expecting a baby boy in “early 2021.”

As to how Moore’s pregnancy will impact Rebecca’s storyline on This Is Us, fans will have to wait and see.
