Ahead of the This Is Us Season 5 finale on May 25, the cast and crew teased what to expect. But ultimately, the team promised a shocking ending.
When speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Isaac Aptaker revealed questions will be answered. But new mysteries will also rise. The EP also hinted that This Is Us fans need to stick around for the last five minutes.
Meanwhile, Chrissy Metz, who plays Kate Pearson, appeared on Today and suggested the season 5 finale is unlike anything fans have “ever seen before.” Sterling K. Brown, who plays Randall Pearson, also revealed the final episode will leave fans with mixed emotions.
“Some people will be shocked, some people will be crushed, some people may be both, some may be delighted. We’ll see,” Brown told HollywoodLife.
Then Milo Ventimiglia, who plays Jack Pearson, hinted that the This Is Us finale will leave fans a little upset.
“It’s one of those episodes that definitely, I feel like people are going to be upset,” Ventimiglia said on The Talk. “But in an ‘oh no they didn’t’ kind of way.”

On May 25, Moore stopped by Today and teased the upcoming This Is Us Season 5 finale. Of course, the actor wasn’t able to give much away about the new episode. But Moore hinted that This Is Us fans need to “pay close attention” while watching because it’ll kick off what’s to come in season 6.
“Pay close attention and I think there’s gonna be something that people will be talking about at the end of the episode for the summer until we get back for season 6,” Moore said. “There’s something. Something happens.”
‘This Is Us’ is ending after season 6
Regardless of what happens in the This Is Us Season 5 finale, it’s likely the new mystery will be solved soon. As you may know, the NBC drama is ending after the sixth season. The network also confirmed This Is Us Season 6 will start midseason with a premiere in 2022.
Meanwhile, Moore shared how she really felt about the end of the series.
“I don’t think that I’m emotionally ready to accept that this is the end,” Moore said on Today. “I know we have 18 more episodes. We haven’t started shooting our final season yet. But this is the best job I’ve ever had. The fact that I won’t be with this work family anymore is devastating. It’s heartbreaking for us.”
She added, “Dan Fogelman, our creator, has been very steadfast from the beginning that the show is six seasons. We have a particular story we’re working toward. So it’s challenging to stretch that in any way.”
The Pearson family will wrap their final chapter soon. But luckily, there are 18 episodes left in This Is Us Season 6 to fully tell the story. So get ready.
