NBC finally gave This Is Us fans something to look forward to with the season 6 premiere coming on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022. In November 2021, NBC announced the premiere date for This Is Us Season 6. At the time, the network didn’t drop a season trailer. However, it did release a new teaser photo.

The This Is Us Season 6 promo pic told fans to “relive every moment” surrounding the Pearson family before the season 6 premiere, and the teaser says viewers can stream seasons 1-5 now. The photo also included a collage of major relationships and characters on the show.

Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson), Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby (Chris Sullivan), and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) were featured multiple times. Deja (Lyric Ross), Tess (Eris Baker), Annie (Faithe Herman), and William (Ron Cephas Jones) were also highlighted. One photo showed Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge) together. However, many This Is Us fans pointed out that a few key characters were missing from the season 6 promo.

For the most part, many This Is Us fans were distraught about the end of the series with the announcement of the season 6 premiere. But some hawk-eyed viewers were preoccupied with other details. They noticed that important characters, such as Miguel, Madison, and Uncle Nicky (Griffin Dunne), weren’t in the promo photo.

“No pictures of Miguel at all,” a fan wrote on Reddit. “He really is the forgotten cast member. It’s a shame.”

Meanwhile, a This Is Us fan on Instagram asked about Madison as well as her twins — Nicholas and Frances — with Kevin. Then another viewer responded, “I was so disappointed when I saw a picture of Sophie here, but no Madison.”

What’s next for Nicky, Miguel, and Madison in ‘This Is Us’ Season 6

The characters’ absence from the This Is Us Season 6 promo picture isn’t necessarily a clue. As a fan on Reddit theorized, the “purpose of the poster is [to] tell people to rewatch the series before Jan 4.” And for now, it seems likely Miguel, Madison, and Nicky will continue to play important roles in the final season.

In an interview with Deadline, creator Dan Fogelman confirmed the backstory of Miguel and Rebecca (Mandy Moore) will be a “big season 6 story for us.” He also hinted that Madison and Kevin could still end up together or become friends even though they split in the season 5 finale.

“There’s a tremendous amount of warmth and happiness between all the characters,” Fogelman said of the This Is Us Season 5 finale flash-forward. “I think particularly between Madison and Kevin. … I think that there is a lot of affection there. How that affection is turned is for season 6 to tell.”

Meanwhile, Uncle Nicky still has an important storyline to wrap up in This Is Us Season 6. At the end of season 5, the character started looking for his ex-girlfriend, Sally. So it’s likely fans will see what comes from that new chapter before the series finale. But whatever happens to the characters on This Is Us, viewers are hoping the final moments will be worth the wait. Get ready.
