One of the things that make the show so riveting is its cast. Each person plays their characters so well that you can’t help but believe everything that they say.

Recently, a preview from the show’s fourth season was aired during The Golden Globes. The clips showed that singer John Legend will be joining the show. Bit it turns out, he’s not the only one.

John Legend joining ‘This Is Us’

Fans and Golden Globes attendees were shocked to see Legend’s face on the screen during the preview that was shown at the event. The addition to the cast had been kept in such secrecy that even Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, knew nothing about it. And even now, she’s not sure why her hubby will be on the show.

“I had no idea until now and still don’t get it?” she tweeted. “His song or himself?”

Who else is joining the show?

The creators of the show have been hinting at adding on castmembers for a while.

“I would say that there’s a lot of secret new cast members who are going to be a big deal, coming up,” This Is Us co-creator Dan Fogelman said during a fan event, according to People.

In addition to Legend, Omar Epps, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Asante Blackk, Tim Matheson, and Timothy Omundson have all joined the fourth season.

What will the second half of the season cover?

As we go into the second half of season four, fans have been wondering what we will see. According to Fogelman, we’ll get to see a lot more of Rebecca.

“We’re at the early, early stages of something going on,” Fogelman told the outlet of Rebecca’s struggle with memory loss. “Beyond all of the concern for the character herself, it would be correct to have concern for the entire family right now. We’ve been born with this family, in terms of how they started as children with what place Rebecca holds for them.”

Fogelman said that the show had always planned to go deeper with Rebecca’s character, but he felt more confident doing so with Mandy Moore playing the role.

“It’s always been part of our plan where this storyline will go but what can’t be part of your plan was how extraordinary Mandy was going to be in all of this,” he continued. “It’s not spoken about how extraordinary she is doing on this show right now, which is playing multiple versions and timelines of the same character so seamlessly that your heart is breaking for [Rebecca] on-screen. I’m very excited for people to see what comes next and what she’s doing as an actor.”

You won’t have to wait long to see how everything plays out as the show comes back to television on Jan. 14 at 9 p.m. ET.
