When speaking with guest host tWitch in the April 8 episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Watson opened up about her professional relationship and friendship with Brown after playing Beth and Randall on This Is Us for five seasons.

“I am blessed, truly,” Watson said of her onscreen husband. “I really have, what I know I will consider for the rest of my life, one of the best scene partners to have. And I know that, and I am fortunate. Not only do I have that, but I have a very good friend.”

Watson also revealed what it was like to work with Brown on This Is Us. The actor said:

That’s my partner right there! We make it do what it do every time we get a chance to. We enjoy being with each other, and we work off each other’s energy. I couldn’t ask for somebody who’s more dedicated, and it means something to them to bring something to the table every time. I can go on and on about SK, and that’s real. So it’s a joy for me to work with him. Even on the days where it’s like, ‘Wow, how are we gonna do this? How are we gonna make this work?’ It’s a joy for me to figure it out with him.

What’s next for Beth and Randall Pearson in ‘This Is Us’ Season 5

Following a rough patch in This Is Us Season 4, Beth and Randall came out the other end in one piece. Then at the start of the fifth season, Beth supported Randall as he uncovered his mother’s story in New Orleans.

Now, the couple must navigate through a few more life challenges. But many This Is Us fans hope Beth and Randall remain strong together.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter from January 2021, Brown hinted that it’s possible Beth and Randall will hit another speed bump in This Is Us Season 5.

“There is marriage, which never takes a break. You can’t press the cruise control button on that,” Brown said. “While Beth and Randall are in a very good place, 2020 — and again, speaking from personal experience — took its toll on every relationship, with your children, with your wife, with your family, et cetera, for good and for bad.”

The actor continued, “But it wasn’t the same. You had to adjust. So I’m sure we’ll see that as well.”

That said, This Is Us fans already know Beth and Randall are still together in the flash-forward at Kevin’s (Justin Hartley) future home. So whatever happens to the characters moving forward, it seems viewers can still count on more phenomenal scenes between Watson and Brown.

This Is Us Season 5 airs Tuesday nights on NBC.
