This Is What Meghan Markle Will Inherit From Princess Diana
Meghan Markle is officially a royal. The former Suits actress already stepped away from the small screen and uprooted her life to move to the U.K She has attended various royal events with her new husband, Prince Harry, and the philanthropist is also learning what it means to be royal and all of the rules and regulations that come with it.
Though Markle is reportedly getting along with everyone in the royal family, one very important royal, the late Princess Diana, will never get to see her son and new daughter-in-law walk down the aisle. Luckily, like her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, who wears the late princess’ engagement ring, Markle also had symbolic pieces from the People’s Princess with her on her wedding day and beyond.
Since she said “yes” to Prince Harry in late 2017, Markle has already been wearing some jewels from Princess Diana’s collection. According to The New York Times, Markle’s engagement ring is comprised of two diamonds from the late princess’ collection, along with a diamond from Botswana that commemorates a special time during the couple’s courtship.
In their BBC engagement interview, Prince Harry explained why the ring, which was designed by Cleave and Company, is so important.
He revealed, “It’s incredibly special to be able to have this, which sort of links where you come from and Botswana, which is important to us, and it’s perfect.”

Her ‘something blue’
Markle honored Diana in another sweet way on her wedding day. On her way to her and Harry’s private reception, Markle not only swapped her elegant wedding dress for an open-back Stella McCartney evening gown, but was also seen donning Diana’s emerald cut aquamarine ring on her right hand.
Diana famously wore the emerald cut Aquamarine stunner to a 1997 auction at Christie’s. You can catch a glimpse of the ring as Markle waves in the photo above.

The sapphire and pearl necklace
One of the late princess’ more iconic jewelry pieces was her sapphire brooch. The queen gifted it to her at her wedding. Though the fashionable princess initially wore it as intended, she soon made into a many-stringed pearl necklace, which she wore often.
In her will, Princess Diana stated, “I would like you to allocate all my jewelry to the share to be held by my sons, so that their wives may, in due course, have it or use it.”
Therefore, we can certainly see the necklace getting passed on to Markle, especially since the princess wore it even after her divorce from Prince Charles.

The infamous Swan Lake set
Though Prince Harry and Prince William do have most of their mother’s jewelry in their possession, her stunning diamond and pearl necklace, intended as part of a set that was never completed, got sold at an auction just after her death.
Princess Diana wore the necklace at one of her last public appearances, just before her death. She paired it with a light blue gown at a performance of Swan Lake ballet at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Made by the Crown Jeweler at the time, the necklace has 178 diamonds and five pearls. It was recently up for auction for an astounding g £9.6 million.
If Prince Harry doesn’t wish to retrieve the necklace, he may get something similar made for Markle.

The Saudi Suite
On her wedding day, Princess Dina was gifted a sapphire set by Crown Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia. The set included a watch, earrings, a bracelet, a ring, and diamond necklace.
The princess adored the set and wore various pieces of it often. After they got engaged, Prince William gifted Duchess Kate with the earrings from the set, which she turned into a drop style.
This means that Prince Harry can still choose to bestow upon Markle the watch, bracelet, ring, or necklace.

The lush emerald choker
One of the People’s Princess’ standout pieces of jewelry was her mesmerizing emerald choker. Super stylish, the princess wore the necklace in its usual fashion and also as a headband.
If we ever see Markle with this stunner on, it will be on loan. After all, the glittering jewels never belonged to Princess Diana, the choker was always a part of the queen’s collection.

Queen Mary Lover’s Knot Tiara
On her wedding day, Queen Elizabeth II loaned Princess Diana the Queen Mary Lover’s Knot Tiara. Though the late princess chose not to wear it during her actual nuptials, she was a huge fan of the tiara and wore it often. After her death in 1997, the tiara was returned to the queen.
However, in 2016, Kate Middleton began wearing it to regal events. We wonder if Markle will also share the tiara or if she will choose another stunning crown from her late mother-in-law’s collection.
