Meghan Markle is officially a royal. The former Suits actress already stepped away from the small screen and uprooted her life to move to the U.K  She has attended various royal events with her new husband, Prince Harry, and the philanthropist is also learning what it means to be royal and all of the rules and regulations that come with it.

Though Markle is reportedly getting along with everyone in the royal family, one very important royal, the late Princess Diana, will never get to see her son and new daughter-in-law walk down the aisle. Luckily, like her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, who wears the late princess’ engagement ring, Markle also had symbolic pieces from the People’s Princess with her on her wedding day and beyond.

Since she said “yes” to Prince Harry in late 2017, Markle has already been wearing some jewels from Princess Diana’s collection. According to The New York Times, Markle’s engagement ring is comprised of two diamonds from the late princess’ collection, along with a diamond from Botswana that commemorates a special time during the couple’s courtship.

In their BBC engagement interview, Prince Harry explained why the ring, which was designed by Cleave and Company, is so important.

He revealed, “It’s incredibly special to be able to have this, which sort of links where you come from and Botswana, which is important to us, and it’s perfect.”
