It seems like it was just yesterday we learned longtime frontman for The Rolling Stones, Mick Jagger, was going under the knife for a heart procedure in New York. In an extremely successful music career spanning over 50 years, the band’s hit singles and albums have soared to the top of the charts.

The good news is Jumping Jack Flash is back! Jagger appears healthy and is once again performing on stage and touring on the road. Speaking of touring, other than an extended hiatus during the ’80s, The Rolling Stones have been touring consistently over the years.

They aren’t showing signs of slowing down anytime soon. So how has Jagger stayed fit for all these years of touring?

How he’s keeping up with the competition

Think about some of today’s hot, young, male music stars that are 20-something like Sam Smith or Shawn Mendes. So how does a 74-year-old rocker compete with much younger rising superstars that could conceivably be one-third of his current age?

You work your butt off that’s how! Instead of some celebrity paths leading down a road with shortcuts like liposuction, botox, and other options, eating healthy, follow a daily regimen of exercise and other healthy choices is how Jagger keeps his swagger. He mixes in a variety of healthy choices like:

  • Working out for three hours at least five or six days a week
  • An organic diet recommended by his bandmate Ronnie Wood’s ex-wife
  • Taking vitamins and supplements daily like cod liver oil, ginseng and ginkgo biloba to improve endurance and brain function
  • Enjoys kickboxing, cycling and is an avid runner sometimes covering up to eight miles
  • Ballet and yoga to help him with balance and stamina
  • Meditation and in the past he practiced with monks in Thailand and Laos
  • Cutting down on alcohol and only drinks an occasional beer (Guinness is his favorite)

You’ve got to give enormous credit to Jagger and all of The Rolling Stones for getting more accomplished in a week of touring than many of us muster up in months or even years for that matter. Especially when you consider the immense amount of traveling they do. While we may envy the life of a rock-star from afar, it requires a tremendous amount of hard work, discipline, and dedication to the craft.

He’s practically a medical miracle with a ton of kids

Jagger and bandmate Keith Richards are both in their mid-70s. They have a half-century of touring and performing together, along with other public appearances. Not to mention writing and recording. This has to take a toll on a person.

They have no doubt also lived a “sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll” type of lifestyle. There’s often plenty of alcohol, skirmishes with the law, and relationship drama.

Back in the day, Jagger was quite the ladies’ man. Although he has only been legally married once, he has a total of seven children.

When Jagger was dating Marsha Hunt, who was pregnant with his first child, the singer became involved with a Nicaraguan beauty by the name of Bianca Pérez-Mora Macias. He would later marry Bianca in 1971, she gave birth to his second child in Paris. They divorced in 1979.

Decades of iconic appearances over the years

The Stone’s tongue-OUT-of-cheek symbol originally appearing on the 1971 album Sticky Fingers. It would later become the most recognized, iconic logo in rock history. Especially when it comes to the all-important design and sales of band-related, commemorative T-shirts. Like a twisted version of the yellow smiley face that was also popular during the ’70s, both of these images have stood the test of time.

Much in the same way, Jagger and his band are still sporting the same style and genre of music that has also successfully scored over time. Jagger still has his signature look; lean lanky and with a fairly chiseled chest for an older gentleman. Sometimes seen shirtless or with his top completely unbuttoned both on and off the stage. We look forward to seeing Jagger continue to rock arenas all over the world.
