Usher reportedly filed for divorce from his wife, Grace Miguel, after three years of marriage. The couple had been separated for nine months before deciding to split. Here’s the reason Usher and Grace Miguel might have decided to call it quits.
Who is Grace Miguel?
Miguel was Usher’s manager, according to People. Usher had nothing but good things to say about her in a 2014 interview with Billboard. “I have an incredible partner and manager,” Usher told Billboard. “She has helped me through some of the hardest times in my life and my career.”
Miguel, also known as Michelle Grace Harry, got her start in the entertainment industry while working with catering companies. She decided to strike out on her own and establish her own catering company. At one time, Miguel became the executive chef for The Cosby Show, reports E! News.
Their dating timeline
Usher and Miguel began dating in 2009 after he divorced his previous wife, Tameka Foster. Usher and Foster, his former stylist, have two sons, Naviyd Ely Raymond and Usher Raymond V. The singer and his soon-to-be ex-wife, Miguel, were married in 2015.
Usher’s past love
Usher used to be romantically linked with TLC singer Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. The couple began dating back in 2001 and split in 2003. Thomas told Us Weekly Usher was her first “real love.” She shared that she and Usher got along well during their relationship. “Usher and I weren’t oil and water. We broke up because I guess it was that time or whatever. He was that real love for me,” she added.
It seems like Thomas might still have some feelings for Usher. A few weeks before Usher and Miguel announced their separation, Chilli retweeted an old picture of her and Usher from the time when they were dating.

Miguel and Usher confirmed their breakup in a statement obtained by People. “After much thought and consideration, we have mutually decided to separate as a couple. We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives. The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward.”
Why did Usher and Grace Miguel Split?
A source told The Jasmine Brand that Usher and Miguel had been in a “negative place” for a while, and that “they’ve been fighting non-stop over the past year.” According to the publication, the couple broke up because Miguel wanted to have a child, but Usher wasn’t on board with the idea. “Grace really wanted to have kids and Usher wasn’t necessarily open to the idea,” said the source.
Both Usher and Miguel have children from other relationships. The source says Miguel wanted to have a child through a surrogate. In addition, there may have been marital strain because of reports Usher allegedly spread an STD to several women, according to The Jasmine Brand.
