Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex shook up the royal family when they decided to step back from their roles as senior royals. Things got even more tense after the pair did a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey where they discussed struggles they faced within the royal family. Some royal fans have worried that Harry and Meghan have been all but excommunicated from the family. But a recent photo might prove they are in the queen’s good graces.

What photo of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle does Queen Elizabeth have?

As with many grandmothers, Queen Elizabeth II likes to keep photos of her family around, but the royal matriarch has been known to use her family’s photos to send messages. In 2019, the queen was reportedly angry with Harry and Meghan for filing to trademark products with the Sussex Royal brand, according to Robert Lacey’s book Battle of Brothers: William and Harry – The Inside Story of a Family in Turmoil. During her Christmas broadcast, the queen typically has photos of her family members around. That year, she left Harry and Meghan’s picture out despite it being their son Archie’s first Christmas.

But now, Harry and Meghan appear to be in the queen’s good graces.

When she recently met with Prime Minister Boris Johnson at Buckingham Palace, she had a framed photo of Harry and Meghan on display. The photo, which has not been publicly released, was surrounded by flowers.

Prince Harry has remained close to the queen

During the Oprah interview, Harry revealed he and his grandmother have actually gotten closer since he moved to the U.S.

“I have spoken more with my grandmother in the last year than I have done in many, many years,” he said. “My grandmother and I have a really good relationship and a good understanding.”

He also named his newest daughter, Lilibet Diana, after his grandmother’s nickname and his late mother.

Is Prince Harry close to the rest of his family?

Harry’s other relationships within his family haven’t thrived in the same way.

“I love William to bits,” Harry said during the Oprah interview. “He’s my brother and we’ve been through hell together, but we were on different paths.”

He revealed that the two were taking a break from each other.

“The relationship is space at the moment, and time heals all things hopefully,” he said.

Harry’s relationship with his father, Prince Charles, seems to be the most strained.

“There is a lot to work through there,” he said of the relationship. “I feel really let down because he’s been through something similar. He knows what pain feels like. I will always love him, but there is a lot of hurt that’s happened. I will continue to make it one of my priorities to try to heal that relationship. But they only know what they know.”

Harry flew back to the U.K. and reunited with his family when his grandfather, Prince Philip, died. But neither Harry nor William has publicly addressed whether the reunion helped mend their relationship.
