Princess Diana died in a horrific car crash in 1997. Hounded by the press in life, Diana’s death led to an even broader interest in “The People’s Princess.” In the years since her death, countless articles have been written about her, and several actors have portrayed Diana in films and television shows. The interest in Diana doesn’t appear to be dying down. In fact, interest in the royal family and Diana’s story, in particular, has only grown in recent years. Two projects slated for release in the coming years will see three more actors take on the role of the Princess of Wales.

Enma Corrin will appear in The Crown as Lady Diana Spencer

Season 4 of the Netflix Original, The Crown, has an official premiere date. Fans of the royal-focused series will get to settle in for yet another season on November 15. The series has garnered a huge following since its premiere in 2016, but season 4 is likely to gain an even bigger audience. The upcoming season will officially introduce the Princess of Wales into the story.

For Diana’s early years in royal life, Emma Corrin will take on the role. Corrin, 24, is a relative newcomer. She landed her first role in 2017, but she is best known for her part in Pennyworth. According to IMDb, Corrin appeared in four episodes of the series as Esme Winikus. The Epix series delves into the origin story of Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne’s trusted butler.

Elizabeth Debicki will take over for Corrin in The Crown for season 5 and season 6

Netflix has already given The Crown the greenlight for three more seasons. Season 4 will premier in November, but some fans are more interested in the fifth and sixth seasons of the series. Season 5 and season 6 are expected to span the 1990s and early 2000s, according to Vogue. Corrin, however, will not reprise her role as Diana as the series explores her marriage and subsequent divorce. Instead, Elizabeth Debicki will take over the part.

Debicki appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2017 and voiced Mopsy Rabbit in Peter Rabbit. She is set to reprise the voice role in 2021. Debicki will be the last actor to take on the part of Diana in The Crown. Season 6 is expected to be the final season of the series, and, presumably, will cover Diana’s untimely death.

Kristen Stewart will take on the role of Princess Diana in the upcoming film Spencer

Spencer, an upcoming film about Diana, has officially been announced. Directed by Pablo Larrain, production on the film is set to begin in 2021. According to Deadline, the movie will focus on the exact moment when the Princess of Wales decided her marriage to Prince Charles was not working. More specifically, the film will explore Diana’s decisionmaking process, and what led her to walk away from royal life.

Larrain told Deadline that casting the lead role wasn’t particularly difficult. He told the publication that he was looking for someone who could bring an air of mystery to the part, and for him, Kristen Stewart was the obvious choice. While not all royal watchers are convinced with the casting, Stewart has been channeling Diana’s style choices for a decade. The rest of the cast has yet to be announced, but royal watchers are interested in seeing who Larrain will cast as Prince Charles. The film does not have an official release date.
