Tiger Woods Once Asked His Mistress Rachel Uchitel to Speak to His Wife About Their Affair

Tiger Woods‘ life is on display in the new HBO two-part documentary Tiger. Including his famous affair with Rachel Uchitel, which blew up in the media back in 2009. Woods didn’t participate in the doc, but Uchitel did.

Speaking out for the first time, Woods’ former mistress says the famous golfer asked her to try and convince his wife that he wasn’t having an affair.

More than a decade after the affair, Uchitel is finally opening up about her relationship with Woods. Ahead of her appearance in Tiger, Uchitel spoke with Billy Bush from Extra and explained why she decided to speak up now.

“I have been silent for over a decade now, and I felt that it was really important to me to speak only once in my life, because I have spent all these years letting people think what they want to think and say what they want to say,” Uchitel explained. “I needed to take the shackles off and be able tell my story for me. Because I have really spent years under the shame of what’s been going on.”

Uchitel acknowledged that she made a “mistake” by having an affair with a married man. She admits that it comes with a shame that she is dealing with personally. The 45-year-old said she was looking forward to the documentary coming out because it shows that the media took the opportunity to blame her for “someone else humiliating their wife.”

Uchitel admits that she “made one wrong turn 10 years ago,” but she insists that she’s not a “home-wrecker.” She went on to say that she didn’t kill someone or “throw somebody down the stairs.” Instead, she says she made a mistake, which is something everybody does.

She says that the media fallout from her relationship with Woods has made her life “a living hell for the last 10 years.” But, she’s adamant that she was not the golfer’s mistress. Instead, she says she was “in a real relationship” with Woods.

“I want people to leave me alone about it. I made a bad decision,” she added. “And I regret it, and I’m embarrassed about it and my apology is to two people, not the world, two people.”

After all this time, Uchitel hopes that people will “maybe want to believe me a little bit.” She says she’s not an awful person, and people should consider giving her a chance this time around.

In the documentary, Uchitel says that she and Woods “really enjoyed being with each other.” When she asked him why he never checked in with his wife, Elin Nordegren, Uchitel says Woods told her that she “doesn’t ask questions” and “she’s not like you.”

Uchitel admits that she and Woods were “really brazen” about their affair. And that they thought they could get away with it. However, a National Enquirer reporter caught her going into Wood’s hotel room in Australia. And, they tried everything to stop that story.

To try and get ahead of it, Woods told his wife that the story was going to be published, but it was “garbage.”

Uchitel also claims that Woods had her call his wife to try and convince her there was no affair.

“We had an extensive, 30 minute conversation, Elin and I, convincing her that I was not having a sexual relationship with Tiger,” claimed Uchitel, according to Too Fab. “We talked about how I knew Tiger, how I knew his friends, how and why I was in Australia. The story came out and nobody looked at it. Between the stupid story and phone call with Elin, I remember thinking, ‘Oh my god, we’re gonna fly right over this.'”

But, that all changed two days later when Woods was injured in a car accident outside of his home. Nordegren says she used a golf club to get him out. But others claimed she was chasing him with the club when she found out about his affair.

Things fell apart for Woods and Uchitel after that. Woods and Nordegren divorced in 2010. Uchitel now has a daughter and is dating lawyer Ed Batts.
