Savannah Guthrie recently returned to Studio 1A to anchor the Today Show in person. Heading the morning program since 2012, Guthrie has been reporting from home since March due to the coronavirus crisis.

Married to Michael Feldman since 2014, the couple share two children, Vale and Charley, who often made surprise appearances while Guthrie was working from her basement studio. The happily married couple previously revealed their engagement story, where the Today star thought Feldman’s proposal was just part of their conversation.

‘Today’ star on motherhood

The Today co-host has been open about having children later in life. Welcoming her daughter Vale when she was 42, Guthrie sees the benefits of experiencing motherhood at an older age.

“I think one great thing about being an older mom is that you are at a different place in your career where, in many cases, you have a little more say over your schedule and the choices you make,” she told Health Magazine last year. “In your 40s, and now my mid-to-late 40s, you have the difference in attitude where you can figure out what matters and what doesn’t. And guess what? What matters is your family.”

While Guthrie is happy about the timing of becoming a mom, she didn’t purposely put off having children.

“Having kids later in life wasn’t so much a choice—it was just the way life happened for me,” the news anchor shared. “But when I think about being in my 30s and what I was doing and trying to build a career, it would have been incredibly difficult for me to have kids back then.”

Savannah Guthrie ends one relationship but finds love again

When Guthrie was a correspondent for Court TV in 2005, she met journalist Mark Orchard. The two married later that year, with Guthrie soon landing the NBC White House correspondent position in December 2008, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The job change led to a relationship change as well. In January 2009, Guthrie and Orchard went their separate ways. “I was doing the best I could in my personal life, and my professional life was going better,” the Today anchor said. “So you know, you just keep doing the thing that works.”

Shortly after her split from Orchard, Guthrie met Feldman and the two began dating.

NBC anchor misses her cue

After four years of dating, Feldman popped the question to Guthrie while on vacation in Turks and Caicos, according to Good Housekeeping. Yet when Feldman knelt down to ask for the news woman’s hand in marriage, she didn’t realize she was getting a proposal until Feldman presented a ring box.

“He actually got on one knee and I still thought we were just talking. Really, honestly,” Guthrie said on Today. “And then, he brought out the box and then I didn’t open it for a long time cause I was just overcome.”

Tying the knot on March 15, 2014 in an intimate ceremony with under 100 guests in attendance, the couple recently celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary. Guthrie took to Instagram to post a tribute to her husband.
