Carson Daly often pulls double duty for NBC, serving as co-host of the Today Show and host/producer of the network’s popular reality show The Voice. The television personality has a packed schedule which is only going to get busier since he and wife Siri are expecting their fourth child due this spring. Daly recently added to the excitement by revealing the baby’s gender.

Adding to ‘Pop Start’

One of Daly’s responsibilities on Today is heading the show’s “Pop Start” segment which covers the latest celebrity buzz. In September, he added some news of his own to the rundown.

“Siri Daly, my incredible wife… she’s gearing up for a big spring because that’s when she’s going to give birth to our fourth and newest member of the Daly family! That’s right, she’s pregnant!” he reported, blowing a kiss to his wife watching at home and adding, “I love you!”

The happy news was clearly a surprise to co-hosts Hoda Kotb, Dylan Dreyer, and Craig Melvin, all of whom were thrilled for their colleague and good friend.

“We couldn’t be happier to share the news that our family is growing by one this spring,” Daly and his wife told Today.com. “We are continually amazed by God’s blessings in our lives. Our entire family is grateful and so excited!” The Dalys’ new addition will join their three kids: Jackson, 10, Etta, 7, and London, 5.

Think pink

Earlier this week, Daly’s wife Siri joined him on Today for a cooking segment, where the couple served up some more news. Asking co-hosts Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Jenna Bush Hager for suggestions of baby names, Daly started getting asked about the baby’s gender.

“Are we revealing the sex?” Daly asked his wife. “We haven’t. But we can,” she replied.

Drumroll please… “Yeah, it’s a girl,” Daly revealed. Entertainment Tonight reported that the couple was then bombarded with eclectic options for their upcoming arrival’s moniker, including Aloysius or ‘Alo’ (from Roker, of course), Bingo, Carsonita, and Cari. Daly was open to all suggestions, saying, “We like guy’s names for girls. We will add those in the hopper!”

Joy after loss

Daly is especially thankful for the addition to his family in light of the double loss he recently experienced. Losing his mom Pattie to a heart attack in September 2017 shortly followed by the death of his stepfather Richard the following month, Daly has learned how to live in the moment.

“My thing is just 24 hours,” he said last year, according to Entertainment Tonight. “Now I wake up and I’m like, ‘Thank you God, I got a new day, a fresh day. How can I be the best husband, the best father, the best coworker, the best fellow citizen? I got today. I got right now, in this moment…’ Life goes by so fast that for me, now, it’s just like, live and marinate in that moment when I’m in a tickle fight. And then when I go to bed, it’s just like, ‘You know what? I hope I did good today and if God gives me another day, I’m just gonna do it again.'”

Now, the host of The Voice is hoping to pass on the legacy he received from his parents by being the best dad possible. “Losing my folks, the fragility of life … it’s so crazy,” Daly shared. “I realize the more pain I feel losing my parents is a testament to how much they impacted on my life, and they clearly equipped me with the tools to handle it, because they’re incredible parents, and I hope to pass that down.”
