When asked his thoughts on seeing Andrew Garfield come back for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, Tom Holland wholeheartedly agreed that it would be a great idea.

Spider-Man fans are anxious to see Garfield return to the big screen as Peter Parker. Meant to be a trilogy, The Amazing Spider-Man series was cut short in 2014, ending with only two installments after The Amazing Spider-Man 2  failed miserably at the box office.

According to Market Research Telecast, Sony pulled the plug on a third movie, most likely because of “wacky effects, a dodgy script, and an embarrassing take on the iconic villain Electro.”

Fans seemed to understand the decision until Garfield reappeared in Spider-Man: No Way HomeWhen all three Spider-Man characters (Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland, and Andrew Garfield) showed up in the film, the reaction was incredibly positive. Thousands took to Twitter to show their support, with the hashtag #MakeTASM3 trending.

Moviegoers made it clear they wanted to see Garfield return to the franchise to finish off the third installment of the trilogy. Comicbook.com reported, “After receiving a reminder of all that Andrew Garfield can be as Spider-Man, Marvel fans now want Sony to make The Amazing Spider-Man 3 a reality!”

Tom Holland would love to see Andrew Garfield in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’

Tom Holland seems to agree with fans and is open to having Andrew Garfield return to the big screen to wear the red spandex suit for The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Admitting he would love to see a third movie happen, Holland told Comicbook.com, “I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to kind of make amends with the character and the studio, you know, to kind of win the general public back.”

After the second movie bombed, Sony Pictures changed direction, collaborating with Marvel to reboot the series and cast Holland as the new Spider-Man. His character debuted in Captain America: Civil War and was met with great success. He was signed to two Avengers movies and the Marvel Spider-Man trilogy.

The Uncharted actor said, “The fan reactions in the theater was so spectacular. So, should Sony decide to do that? They would have my full support, and obviously, so would Andrew.”

Fans have been making their feelings known on Twitter, making sure Marvel and Sony are aware they want to see Garfield pick up where he left off. His character is the only Spider-Man that didn’t get to complete a franchise trilogy.

Last year, Garfield told The Guardian that he found his experience working on The Amazing Spider-Man “heartbreaking,” claiming the soul of the movie was lost to making “as much money as possible.”

After appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Garfield told Looper that he was “happy and satisfied and grateful to be a part of this [film].” He claimed that he was savoring the moment with fans and was humbled by the positive response to his performance.

Garfield is not opposed to returning for a third Spider-Man movie, either. On the podcast Happy Sad Confused, he stated, “In terms of moving forward with the character, yes, I am definitely open to that and, again, it would have to be something very unique, very special and of service to the audience [and] of service to the character.”

Garfield expressed his desire to work with Holland and Maguire again, saying, “I think that kind of three-brother dynamic is so … I don’t know, juicy.”
