Mark Wahlberg’s personal massager gift confuses his ‘Uncharted’ co-star Tom Holland
During an interview with Access Hollywood, Holland talked about a special gift he received from his Uncharted co-star, which he initially mistook for a sex toy. “Essentially, Mark Wahlberg was kind enough to give me a massage gun after I left his house in LA and he drove me back to my hotel,” Holland began.
“I was confused as to what kind of massage gun this was, having never seen one before … and I thought it was the type of self-pleasure. I thought Mark Wahlberg was driving me back to my house for other reasons than just being a gentleman.”
Wahlberg raised his hands at Holland in disbelief. “It’s Hollywood baby … who knows what’s going to happen,” Holland concluded.
Wahlberg said he and Holland were discussing workouts and recovery. As a brand ambassador for Power Plate, a company that offers vibrating training equipment, he wanted to gift his co-star with “one of the best massage guns out there.”
Mark Wahlberg invests in personal massagers
In April 2021, Wahlberg became an investor and key stakeholder of Performance Health Systems, the parent company of Power Plate. The company offers various products ranging from vibration plates to rollers and pulse massage guns.
Per a press release from the brand, Wahlberg said: “The fact that Power Plate has been relatively unknown for so long surprised me. I’ve been a satisfied customer for over a decade, so I decided to get involved in spreading awareness about their game-changing products.” Wahlberg gifting his co-star with a massage gun is just one way he’s promoting the brand.
‘Uncharted’ movie plot and release date
Holland and Wahlberg’s film Uncharted will come out in theaters on Feb. 18, 2022. Thanks to Netflix’s deal with Sony, the movie will also be available to stream (via Deadline).
Uncharted is based on the video game series of the same name, which follows the adventures of scruffy treasure hunter and thief Nathan Drake and his suave mentor, Victor “Sully” Sullivan. In the film, fans will see the start of Nathan’s treasure-hunting career as a teen under Sully’s wing.
According to Variety, Wahlberg was initially brought on to play Nathan as an adult. But when Sony decided to go with an origin story, Wahlberg shifted into the mentor role.
In the video game, Sully is a professional thief and treasure hunter who meets Nathan in the 1990s, offering to look after him as a boy. The two quickly develop a father-son relationship, joking with each other and proving their loyalty through various trials.
It’s unclear how closely the Uncharted movie will follow the story in the game, but many fans are excited nonetheless. Uncharted will also star Antonio Banderas as the villainous Santiago Moncada, Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazier, and Tati Gabrielle as Braddock.
