As a child, Trisha Yearwood was a fan of the comfort food classic Chicken Pot Pie. It’s a dish her mother Gwen cooked for dinner. This included the country superstar, sister Beth, and her father, Jack. Yearwood has built upon this original recipe to create several different versions of the one-dish meal. These included Chickless Pot Pie and a Chicken Pot Pie Burger. Yearwood has also developed an all-meat version of the comfort food classic, which she calls Chicken Pie.

Yearwood’s Chicken Pie is so hearty and filling; you’ll forget there are no vegetables.

What is the origin of Chicken Pot Pie?

In the days of the Roman Empire, pot pies were served at banquets.

The LA Times reported that the trend of meat pies topped with a pastry crust was revived in England in the 1700s.

Subsequently, English settlers who came to America brought these recipes with them to the new world.

However, their recipes were modified due to the availability of items in the United States.

As a result, they morphed into what has become traditional American pot pie recipes.

The first American-written cookbook titled “American Cookery” featured variations of pot pie recipes reported Order Pie Bar.

Some of these creations included recipes for Stew Pie, Sea Pie, and Chicken Pie.

The pot pie’s popularity increased during the convenience food era of the 1950s. Subsequently, frozen entrees allowed these types of foods to become more accessible with minimal effort.

Chicken pot pie and its many versions are famous because it truly is a one-dish meal that contains protein, vegetables, and a luscious sauce, topped with a thick, savory crust.

What are the ingredients in Chicken Pie?

Trisha Yearwood came up with a recipe for Chickless Pot Pie, which contains vegetables in a creamy sauce and a tender crust.

There are only seven ingredients in Yearwood’s recipe for Chicken Pie.

The saucy chicken mixture is topped with a hearty, flavorful crust.

Each plays a significant part in creating the finished recipe.

These include pepper, butter, cooked, shredded chicken, and chicken broth.

Ingredients include chicken broth, chicken soup, self-rising flour, and buttermilk.
