Twitter Gets Victor Newman of ‘The Young and the Restless’ Trending
The Young and the Restless is one of CBS’s most popular soap operas. However, its viewing demographic tends to skew a bit older. But thanks to a tweet from a popular Twitter account, the character of Victor Newman got trending on the popular social media app as fans shared their memories of the character.

Chris Evans — not to be confused with the actor of the same name — has a popular Twitter account where he shares various ruminations. On August 27, at about 10:00 p.m., Evans shared a tweet featuring The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden. Fans of the show know, of course, that he plays Victor Newman.
Thanks to the popularity of Evans, Victor Newman, and The Young and the Restless, it became a Twitter trending topic. In fact, the topic is still trending as of this writing.
“OK babies y’all gon have to be quiet….grandma’s stories finna come on,” remembered one user. “I remember as a small child my grandmother would talk badly about this horrible man named Victor Newman on the phone & whenever I would see a man I didn’t know in my grandparent’s neighborhood I would be afraid that it was Victor & that he was going to get even w/ my grandmother!” remembered another.

Evans’s tweet ultimately proved that while the generations are certainly different, the love for The Young and the Restless is universal. Many fans started sharing their favorite memories of the show, and even their love for both the character and the actor who plays him.
What started out as a tribute to The Young and the Restless ultimately became a tribute to families, and the intimate experience of watching soap operas together. While soaps don’t have the audience they once had, they still have a strong and devoted following across generations.
“As a person whose mother has watched Y&R religiously since before I can remember, I can attest that Eric Braeden’s Victor Newman is one of the great TV characters of all time. Absolute powerhouse,” recalled another fan of the show.

Other fans, however, paid tribute to Eric Braeden’s career. While his best-known role is certainly as Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless, he’s done other things of note, as well.
According to his IMDb page, Braeden also had starring roles in The Rat Patrol, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He even had a bit part in Titanic, and his son Christian Gudegast directed Den of Thieves with Gerard Butler.
But, perhaps Braeden will forever be known as Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless. And as the Twitter trending topic proved, he’s very beloved for the role.
