Some speculations consider a shift in release date, while others suspect something much bigger.

The anti-hero team of Venom and Eddie Brock slithered its way into the hearts of many fans. Now, they slink into our calendars as the official Venom Twitter account announced Venom Day on Sept. 27, 2021. Sony then promised some big things in store, and fans waited eagerly for the celebrations to begin.

“You never know what’s in store…” Sony said

Fans already hugely anticipated the Venom movie sequel, and on Sept. 24, Sony teased some exciting news.

At 6:15 pm, the official Venom: Let There Be Carnage Twitter uploaded a short clip announcing ‘VENOM DAY.’

As the black alien symbiote overtook the announcement, it fell away to reveal a message urging fans to “join the conversation” on Monday, Sept. 27, 2021.

“That’s right, a whole day dedicated to us. You’re welcome,” the Twitter post said. “You never know what’s in store…”

The comments then responded with shock and excitement, posting clips of Venom from various Spider-Man cartoons and video games.

Fans speculate on what Venom Day could bring

An announcement generates excitement, sure, but everyone wants some hint.

Fans outside of the US hope that Sony announces the Venom release date has moved. Originally intended to release in the US on Oct. 155, 2021, it shifted up to Oct. 11, ahead of the success Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in theaters.

However, the move only applied to US theaters.

“Fans of the long-time Spidey villain [hope] the sequel…[lays] the groundwork for the character to hop over into the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” ComicBook.com said. “Especially now that executives from both Marvel Studios and Sony have said as much is a legitimate possibility.”

A massive announcement like Venom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe seems the type of secret to hide in a post-credits scene.

“We’re not sure what to expect from ‘Venom Day,’ but a final trailer is feasible,” ComicBookMovie said. “This could be a fun day – depending on what Sony decides to share with fans.”

ComicBookMovie, however, remains cautiously optimistic about what the celebration could provide.

“It’s certainly not outside the realm of possibility that the studio would announce Venom 3 or a future Spider-Man crossover, as that sort of news can have a significant impact on box office takings.”

Countless possibilities remain open for the lethal protector, and Sony knows it. Dangling new announcements before fans make them feel much like Venom when Eddie tells him not to eat someone’s head.

Fans have to wait and see Venom Day for themselves

The cryptic Tweet offered little solid information. Unfortunately, Venom Day stays in the realm of speculation for now.

While Venom 2 releases days from now, fans’ excitement only builds.

While, Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom prepares to take on Woody Harrelson’s Cletus Kasady/Carnage, Naomie Harris’ Shriek looks to cause some major damage as well.
